Midnight Run is one my favorites. I suppose The Darjeeling Limited would still fit the genre specs.

Re: favorite road films?

I would include many of the films already mentioned here. Off the top of my head, I can think of:

Le Grand Voyage (2004)
La Strada
The Seventh Seal

I don't know if one could call The Seventh Seal a road film, but they are traveling throughout the film.

I've only met one other person that has seen Le Grand Voyage; reviews have been favorable (and it was nominated for a BAFTA). I find it to be a very good film.

La Strada is a Fellini film and literally means "The Road".
