Just Go With It

Adam Sandler returns to the big screen with an update of "Cactus Flower" along with Jennifer Anison, Brooklyn Decker, and Nick Swardson. There's also one more supporting role filled by an Oscar-winning Best Actress that just surprised the hell out of me, as she did pretty well with the comedic material. Oh, and Dave Matthews also has a minor part.

So plastic surgeon Danny (Sandler) finds that he gets a lot more tail by pretending to be a married man on the way to divorcedom, which is all well and good until he meets the woman of his dreams in Palmer (Decker), but she finds out after they hook they he's married, she balks at any further contact. Danny conjures up story upon story to convince Palmer that he's about done with his divorce, and this requires the help of his long-time admin assistant, Katherine (Aniston), and her 2 children as Danny is at the mercy of all the lies he's told to keep the fires stoked with Palmer.

I had a lot of fun with this film, it's not great, but it does deliver a lot of laughs, and it's not totally dominated by Danny, so the cast gets a lot of screentime to flesh out their parts in this farcical look at such a premise. Decker looks great in a bikini, and Aniston holds her own against Decker. This is one of the few films of late where I could stand Aniston's character, mainly because she's written to be rather sympathetic, and not on the impetuous bitchy side.

I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

Anyone else see this movie? From the trailer, it looks like another typical Sandler movie for better or worse.

Not many choices this weekend and I have to use a fandango ticket offer. It's probably between "Just" and "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman.

Easily Sandler's best of the year.

I am not a Sandler fan but this movie was pretty good. And I think Jenny looked better than the other girl. She looked great in that waterfall. The kids were mildly amusing also. Overall a good date movie.

Nothing special as a film in terms of the writing or direction (not to mention Sandler's usual "weird" humor feels completely tacked on), but the comic connection between Sandler and Aniston is clearly genuine, which is enough to make it enjoyable.

I like Sandler's wierd humor. The kid girl was great.

And I dont like the bikini bottoms --- they look inelegant, like half pulled down panties.

Nothing special but enjoyable, Aniston gave a perky performance.

I don't even remember any marketing from this thing...did it do well?

Re: Just Go With It

It did alright, dunno how it had an $80m budget (purely cast I suppose, Sandler + Aniston + Kidman) but:

$103m domestic
$111.8m overseas

$214.8 overall

Not Bridesmaids ($124m domestic on a $32.5m budget), but similarly not How Do You Know ($48.7m worldwide on a $120m budget).

The marketing was a chick with incredible tits in a yellow bikini walking out of the ocean. Think hard, you saw it. Everybody saw it.

ok...so...here's the trailer.

<object width="600" height="452"><param name="movie" value="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/29943"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.traileraddict.com/emd/29943" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" width="600" height="452" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object>

Now granted...I probably would never have seen this movie ever...I have never seen anything for it till now. Yes, she does have some rocking tits..but I still had never seen any marketing for it.

I liked Grown ups a little bit better, but otherwise it was ok.

Advertising was everywhere for this movie, snake doesn't pay attention to tits, probably why he didn't remember it. :)

:)

I'm just selective on my imagery of Tits. If it's got Monica Bellucci being attractive (which is almost all the time)...better damn know that I know of it...

I saw Brooklyns interview on a late nite know with the tits scene; and Annistons interview with the shopping scene.

Nicole Kidman was just a waste of money in this movie.

Just finished watching this one. Not Sandler's best, but still an enjoyable timekiller. Brooklyn Decker looked great, but Jennifer Aniston was incredible.

Yes she was... I think the words Sanler used in the movie was deceptively hot...

Not a huge fan of hers but she did look great.

He said "sneaky hot body." -rolleyes-

Yep, she looked amazing for 41.

I thought Brooklyn Decker looked way way way better than Aniston.

Just watched this the other night and I agree with you. It wasn't his best, but I found it more enjoyable than Grown Ups and some of his other recent films.

I've got to give Sandler credit, he sure has a history of casting hot girls as his female lead:

Kate Beckinsale
Jessica Biel
Emmanuelle Chriqui
Salma Hayek
Jennifer Aniston
Brooklyn Decker, etc.

Out of curiosity, how old are you?

You can't ask how old people are on the internet... they can't count that high. :)

 I only ask because I'm 41 and as hot as Decker was, I would much rather take Aniston. Was wondering if it was an age thing.

Re: Just Go With It

I'm 28 and thought Aniston out hotted Decker. Decker is hot as hell, but there's something really sexy about Aniston, and she has a better face.

Re: Just Go With It

Jennifer Aniston is very pretty, until someone snaps an unsuspecting picture of her. When she's not smiling, her face shows her age.

Again, she is an attractive woman, but I just can't help but notice this look of dread on her face all the time. Also, her complete lack of range bothers me. You could say the same for Sandler, but the man is a professional comedian. In his case, I think he knows his limits.
