Meryl Streep As Margaret Thatcher In 'The Iron Lady'
Pathé UK has released the first shot of Meryl Streep as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Streep is in the 2nd week of filming The Iron Lady here in London. It’s the first feature from director Phyllida since she directed Streep in Mamma Mia. Jim Broadbent plays Thatcher’s husband Dennis. Damian Jones is the producer. Fox will release here in Britain through its output deal with Pathé, which is handling international sales itself. Pathé will unveil footage at Cannes. North American rights are still unsold. "I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses - I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own,” says Streep.

Thatcher was a fascinating and important political figure, I fail to see how a biopic from the director of Mama Mia will do her any justice. Good luck.
Also, she is so maligned by hindsight liberals that I can't see anyone being objective about her. She deserves an Oliver Stone/Nixon treatment. But I doubt she'll get it.

Streep has always had a perfect actress' face, IMO. She can play pretty, plain, homely, ugly, nondescript or gorgeous.

'meryl streep' sucks! she's good at accents and costumes but thats it. a good artist has to bring something 'personal' to their roles. like nicole kidman, is insecure as heck, that comes through and makes her roles more interesting. or tilda swinton, what a freak. that's an interesting actress.
i dont believe that 'meryl streep' has anything going on upstairs. she was good in kramer vs kramer or manhattan, because she knew those characters (spoiled stuck up *beeps*). but most her movies i know that she's never felt what they felt.
just had to rant about the streep because she is considered one of the best actors of all time,gets parades in her honor every year, and will probably get a national holiday and a coin with her face on it. but she sucks
