Re: Original Film Posters

I was looking to find a nice poster of To Live and Die in LA for Friedkin to sign when I went to his retrospective. Too bad the one sheets I found were a bit pricey, but I guess I never did see those as common posters.

Made my first successful order through e-movie posters and they sent a movie poster book along with my order, is this something they do for new customers or every time?

Nice card dude! They run those promotions from time to time. Whenever the auction category is something they ship flat (folded posters, lobby cards, etc) is when they bust it out. I got one on cowboy movie posters not too long ago. Its a cool little extra.

Very nice. I like that matte you put around it too. I've gone after that one a few times in auctions, never been able to land it though.

Was bidding on this but the price went past what I am willing to pay for a movie I have never seen:

Why have I never heard/seen this movie?

How much are they going for?

Very Nice. How big is that? Is that a mini poster?

I posted these in the old thread but I think they are more suited for here:

Thanks! It took a long time to figure out what sort of matte would look good. I decided on this one, but was second guessing myself until I saw it finished.

I lucked out and picked this up for about $40 (including shipping from Japan). I think I lucked out bidding on this - only one other person was going against me.

From what I've seen they don't go for huge numbers, but always more than I want to spend at that particular time.

Re: Original Film Posters

I collect primarily posters from Kubrick films. My best poster I'd say is the 2001: A Space Odyssey poster with the Star Child and the tagline "The Ultimate Trip." I also try and acquire posters from David Lynch, Malick, and Gilliam films. I have a bunch of Kubrick lobby cards. Everything is packed away. It's difficult to find 27x41 frames anywhere let alone find one that isn't cheaply built.

Exactly.

Was hugely annoyed when Aaron Bros. stopped carrying 27X41 in favor of 27X40.

I get most of my frames online, though I've fallen badly behind on them.

Glad to see some others that collect original posters/lobby cards/etc... though. The Mondo and other screenprints are cool but personally I'd rather have original art from the movie.

Thanks! I love them as well, though this is only my second. I'll be getting Jeffrey Combs to sign it in September. I love how nice they look and how little space they take up.

Funny that you mention them. I just had Susan there custom make me frames. Everything went smooth, frames were shipped well and the quality is pretty nice. I was a bit hesitant to use metal frames, but my fears were unwarranted as it turns out.

All-in-all, I'm pretty happy.

I'll provide her email if anyone asks for it.
