Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

I figured the odds were against me since I was using a 3G connection on my iPad, but I managed to get the The Invisible Man and the non-variant edition of The Mummy. These were my first Mondo posters.

The Mummy Poster was nice. My whole experience with the Kill Bill poster has kinda soured me on Mondo a bit though.

New prints up. I grabbed the Jaws and True Grit as they are stunning... I like the Vertigo as well, but I don't have much of an emotional connection to that movie so I passed. I wish the King Kong was just the center poster... I'd post pics but they are huge when I try.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Up on Mondo's site Fri, 8/19 at a random time:

Poster by Florian Bertmer. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 230. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. $45

Poster by Florian Bertmer. 24"x36" screen print w/ glow-in-the-dark and metallic inks. Hand numbered. Variant edition of 90. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. $80

I was excited to hear this was in the pipeline, but am not that enthusiastic about the result. I'll likely pass in my attempt to get one.

Haven't been tempted by a Mondo print in a while, but just picked up these two beauties (one is for my g/f unless I decide to keep it for myself...tempted to do so):

Yeah, I've been really liking his prints. The Jaws one I just got is getting a lot of good press for him.

Yeah, the Jaws one is pretty cool, but I can never see myself displaying "bloody" posters. But, it is definitely a cool one. Wow, just went back and seems I got lucky by snagging North by Northwest before it sold out.

The only knock I have on Alien Corset is that their Gold female bit can be somewhat repetitive after a while.

I tend to like prints that have a little more to do with the film going on in them...I was really disappointed in their La Dolce Vita print since that is a film I would love to have a nice print for. Although, I'm still kicking myself over not getting into the print game sooner and missing out on Alien's earliest stuff like the first Psycho print, the Monroe series, and the Red Shoes. Happy I finally got to buy some from him though as he does good work...it is just a matter of the right look combined w/the right film.

In my first grab in months I got lucky and was able to get the limited Swamp Thing. By the time I got on here to post that it is live they were both out.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Also, a Star Trek poster goes up today at Mondo:

Poster by Daniel Danger. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 320. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. $45

Poster by Daniel Danger. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Variant edition of 165. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. $75

I prefer the regular to the variant, but will likely pass on trying to grab either one.

Glad I held off on trying to pick up a Stout Captain America on eBay. I lucked out and got picked from Stout's email lottery so i was able to grab a non-variant edition.

Yep. I've tried for quite a few others in the past with no luck so I was shocked when I got the email saying I was picked.

Wow! Didn't know he got to round 2! Glad you got one.

Maybe my turn next time. I only enter the movie poster ones. But I am starting to wonder if they skip the Austin people in the lotto for Mondo releases. i did get a LTROI by lotto which of course was not Mondo.

That said, I ended up with two CA Variants from eBay from my own stupidity. Hoping to trade one.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Forgot to mention I got one of the regular Horkey Jurassic Parks at the mystery screening the other night. My ticket was #84 and only 60 $200 variants were for sale . . .

^ Lucky dog. That print is awesome -- I heard tickets sold out pretty much instantaneously.

Been meaning to ask you, what frame do you have for your Stout CA? I recently picked up this one -- I think the gray will compliment the print nicely: http://www.amazon.com/24x36-Picture-...4987331&sr=8-2

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

I will be curious to see that. I am just not a huge fan of that rustic look except on my True Grit so far. My Captain America still has not been framed.

I did find these and met the artist at Austin Books and Comics yesterday. They are just from a really nice printer on archival art paper. I liked them though. Probably put them in some Hobby Lobby style frames. nothing fancy. They were $20 apiece.
