Re: Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)

I recall reading an announcement some months ago (last year... year before?) that Dreamworks had announced that (except for Shrek) they weren't going to be doing any more sequels to most of their releases, including Kung Fu Panda.

Guess they changed their minds.

I guess money will do that.

Given there's going to be a sequel to How to Train Your Dragon as well, if that was true it's certainly out the door.

The first one was so good, man that was a great one.

I hope this doesn't suck as bad as it probably will and tarnish the fist film by association.

Loved the first film. Also hoping this sequel doesn't suck too bad.

That trailer was fucking stupid. Seriously, was that supposed to be funny?

Re: Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)

The first one felt pretty self contained, but I'm willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt for now.

As for How To Train Your Dragon, that was a whole series of books prior to the movie, so a sequel makes more sense. Also, it was better than Kung Fu Panda.

The first one was better than it had any right to be. A sequel seems unnecessary but I'm hoping it'll defy the odds and actually be decent.

Kung Fu Panda was a real good flick. But for some reason I get a real bad vibe from the concept of KFP 2. The same bad vibe I get from Monsters Inc 2 (but not Cars 2, for some reason)...

Cars 2 has nothing to live up to.

I really like Cars, actually, but I think there's room for improvement in a sequel. KFP2 looks like a Dreamworks cashgrab, and I miss the fun, risk-taking Pixar of Up, Wall-E, Incredibles, and Ratatouille in favor of unnecessary sequels.

Loved the first one, looking forward to the second one. Hope they learn from Pixar and do sequels right!

that's not true at all. the head of Dreamworks Animation came out and said that kung-fu panda has been conceptualized as a 6 movie series (chapters) while How to Train Your Dragon was as well for 3 movies. Madagascar had 2 more, I believe.
