Not one single animated film. For shame, Ebert!

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

As I said in the other thread with this list: Damn good list there.

As with any list, I might replace a couple, change the ordering, but that's another quality list from Ebert.

Oh, don't get me wrong...I can see how people would hate this movie. Just like I see how people would (and did) hate Kids are All Right.

I can't wait for the typical "Ebert has lost it" posts

I've always liked Ebert. Even when he's given four stars to a head scratching movie. I haven't see #2 and #3 on this list yet but agree with the rest. Save for "The Kids Are All Right". I liked the movie. But it's so overrated and doesn't deserve to be on any Top 10 list IMO. Has Ebert not seen "True Grit" yet?

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

Wrong sequencing as always "The Secret in their Eyes" should have been #2 right after "Inception" and "Toy Story 3" should have been somewhere in there too but oh well I do enjoy reading his reviews even though I disagree with his ratings.

The Secret In Their Eyes does follow Inception on that list.

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

I was glad to see "The Ghost Writer" make both Roger's and the list over at EW. I fear a lot of people will leave this off their year-end lists because a) it came out early in the year and b) it's a Polanski film. It was one heck of a good movie.

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

Not a great year for movies, nothing I have seen this year is worthy of an Award for best picture...

Well, I take that back, Toy Story 3 is the best movie of the year and belongs on the top.

Ebert would never put that on his list, though I loved watching his TV show and what he has to say, I take it all with a grain of salt. He truely is an Old Time Movie snob.

I thought 'I Am Love' was the most pompous, art over substance movie of the year.

Because he doesn't think a children's cartoon should be on his Top Ten list?

Given that it was better than most other movies this year, it should definitely be on the list.

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

He loves animation, so it isn't off just because it's animated. The phenomenal Spirited Away ranked #8 on his 2002 list. Finding Nemo was #4 on his 2003 list. Wall-E made his top 20 in 2008 as well (he didn't have a top 10 that year). He's one of the few critics that didn't jizz themselves over TS3 (he gave it a 3 out of 4) and I'm inclined to agree, it wasn't all that amazing but it was still a good movie.

I agree with his #1 pick, haven't seen most of the others though so that could change though doubtful. Winter's Bone was good, Inception was a really entertaining action flick but kind of strange it's getting all this awards attention.

Re: Ebert's Best Films of 2010

Does he still hold true to the rule of only looking at his four-star reviews for creating lists like this (lists which, in the past, he has said he only does because he felt pressured to do)? That may have something to do with why TS3 or <insert your favorite film here> aren't on the list.
