Those nominees for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy is the biggest joke of the year. The Tourist? Burlesque? RED?

What happened to Toy Story 3? Kick Ass?

Here's the RT ratings for all the Best Pic - Musical or Comedy nominees
Alice in Wonderland - 51%
Burlesque - 37%
The Kids Are All Right - 94%
RED - 70%
The Tourist - 20%

What a joke

Burlesque because it was the only actual musical released this year, RED kicked ass so I'm okay with that. The Tourist? Who knows. Alice in Wonderland? lmao.

Johnny Depp nominated twice?

Yeah, add me to the WTF list for "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Tourist" getting any nominations.

That's the biggest thing that stood out for me. Since when is The Tourist a comedy?

Very happy with the 6 noms from Social Network and 4 for Inception. Haven't seen Black Swan or The Fighter yet, so I can't comment on their output.

0 nominations for True Grit is what stands out for me.

Gosling gets a boost. I think Wahlberg's nomination is to make sure he shows up. I don't think he'll make the top 5 at the Oscars.

Surprises me as well. My guess is that the dramatic category is very strong this year and three of the five nominees came out in December, so there were only so many late comers they could accept. If any of those movies up for comedy (save Kids Are Alright) get a Best Picture nom., then something major is wrong. I predict with ten slots True Grit has a chance.

I predict Natalie Portman will win the Globe for Best Actress in a Drama, Benning will win for Comedy, and then the Oscar race will be down to those two. Basically, it will be another case of do we honor the best performance, or do we give a lifetime achievment award?

Jacki Weaver for Animal Kingdom is great, though she is not the best thing about the film.

The Globes always want the big stars to show up, which explains why Depp and Jolie are nominated.

Also, Douglas getting a best supporting actor nod has to be a sympathy nod right?

yeah, Michael Douglas was pretty good in Wall Street 2, no problem with a nomination.

True, but i would of been happier with a Vincent Cassel or Matt Damon nod (for black swan and true grit respectivly)

Exactly. I've lost respect for the Oscars in the last 10 years or so but the GGs make them look like a think tank of Nobel Prize winning physicists.

yeah, I was wondering the same thing about this nomination. I thought it was an action movie, not a comedy or musical. But, I haven't seen it, yet. I looked it up on wikipedia, and it's described as a "thriller" there.

I'm not sure how the GG classifies it as a Comedy or Musical.

I was looking forward to seeing it, but the reviews of it have scared me off spending money on seeing it in the theater. Probably wait til it's out on ppv or dvd.

The field in the Best Comedy/Musical film has to be the worst ever.

Might as well hand the tropy to the The Kids Are All Right now.
