I just got back from the screening. Short version: I fucking enjoyed it. It hit the right emotional notes, the action was great, and his first flight scene was amazing.

Hmmm I don't usually rate out of 10, but maybe an 8.5? I'd give it 4/4 stars Ebert Style, but not say it's perfect, if that makes sense. Certainly the best Superman movie I've seen, but I've only seen 1, Returns and part of 3.

How is it compared to Superman Returns?

I only saw it the one time back in 2006, but this is a lot better. These are minor spoilers:
There is actually ZERO slo mo from what I recall. There are some fucking awesome shots of him flying, with the camera tilting almost 180 sometimes.

My question is how was the CGI? Because the flying shot of Supes at the end of Returns was horrible.

This may be apples and oranges but how would you rank it to the films in Nolan's Batman trilogy?

To the CGI: It really looked well done. The fight scenes, the flight, the destruction. The camera doesn't cut on flight, we see him arc around, go into space, and even hang behind him at super speed. There was one small moment that seemed "video gamey" but I think that was somewhat intentional, to show that humans suck ass compared to these guys.
As for the ranking to the Batman trilogy: Someone else on another forum said that it compares with BB, in terms of setting up a good amount of time before he puts on the suit, and I agree with that. The threat from his "home world/past" is also a similar thing now that I think about it (Ra's/Zod) It also compares to TDK in the large scale, which is what I'd rank it at. Was not a fan of TDKR.
I would say it is similar to how Iron Man burst onto the scene. Remember when people were unsure of RDJ (casting wise, not after the trailers), and the general public didn't really know much about the character? It's kind of like that with the public kind of being tired of Superman after Returns, but I think this will have a similar impact with how good it is, but larger in scale than Iron Man.

Have you seen Iron Man 3 and Star Trek: Into Darkness? How would you rank/compare it to those 2 earlier summer blockbusters?
Was there a post-credit sequence?

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)
I have seen both of those, and did not like Iron Man 3, really liked Into Darkness. However I will say that Man of Steel is the best of the summer blockbusters at this time. This was a 3D showing, and I don't think that they filmed this in 3D but it looked good. In addition to the the usual techniques, I noticed the usage on faces during closeups, so noses, cheeks would have a lot of depth.
There is no post-credits scene. And as an aside, they rarely show trailers at these advance things but this time I saw trailers for Gravity and Pacific Rim. I hadn't seen them before, but looking at Youtube, they're the ones that got released a few weeks ago.

You guys might want to take this to a reviews thread. You're starting to ask specific question, and I can just see a messed up spoiler post or somebody quoting something they shouldn't.
Much appreciated.

Sounds good, I'm too lazy to make one with all the links/polls and stuff right now, but I will continue the discussion there when it is set up.

Can't shake the feeling that near daily tweeting of pics from the next X-men movie is more from Singer getting nervous at the comparisons to come of Returns and MOS, once this gets released.
If I were about to get savaged all over again by negative comparisons, I know I'd want to try to shift focus to what people felt I did well with in the past, rather than being a passive punching bag.
Maybe I'm just projecting, but I gotta think the onslaught of enthusiasm and wild projections for this has gotta sting.
