What is your opinion on Raw Deal

As the only mob movie Arnie did i belive it needs more serious consideration.

It's one of my favorite movies of his; I love the shootout in the quarry or the scene of him barreling into the casino with the bulldozer. But really, the best thing about this flick is the end in the sub-basement bar.

I also liked his iconic red lumberjacket.

For me it's the only Arnie movie of the 80's that I saw once and didn't want to see again.

Raw Deal is the Superman IV of Schwarzenegger films.

Re: What is your opinion on Raw Deal

Saw this in theaters. Then we had the VHS which I must have watched at least five or six times. I remember most of this film. Think I caught it on Cable once too. I've never bothered with the DVD but I think I'll pick it up next time I run across it for old times sake. It's not that bad. Originally I didn't like Robert Davi (Raw Deal, License To Kill, Die Hard) but over the years he grew on me in roles like on Profiler. So I might like Raw Deal more on a re-watch. It has a lot of memorable scenes / lines in it.

Re: What is your opinion on Raw Deal

Ignoring his supporting role in Red Sonja, Raw Deal is the weak link in an otherwise awesome run of films - Terminator, Commando, Predator, Running Man. Feels more like an early Seagal vehicle than a Schwarzenegger film.

Any movie that features an action star teaming up with Ed Lauter is a win in my book.

See also: Death Wish III.

Imagine how good Youngblood would have been if they had replaced Rob Lowe with Schwarzenegger!!

Patrick Swayze could have said "thank God there is a sport for middle-sized white boys" and Arnie would have been all "speak for yourself, girly-man!!"

Or maybe not.

It's the bastard child of the Arnold films but I think it's pretty good as a crime movie, in terms of entertainment not art.

"Smart I like. Smart ass I don't like."

"Witness this."

"You should not drink and bake."

"If you're the best there is, the wheel would never have been invented."

"Oh my GOD!" (at the sight of Arnie's bare torso)

"The only chance you'd be lying next to me is if we're both hit by the same car."

"I CAN'T WALK!"

"How is he?" "Dead."

"He molested, murdered, and mutilated her."

Those are just off the top of my head.

Love this movie.

And a tip of the hat to the awesome score that pumps out during the final battle, like the best theme of the 80's crime/action cheese:

Oh...I know an Arnold film isn't art. It's just damn fine entertainment.

Re: What is your opinion on Raw Deal

I rented it a few years back after having seen and enjoyed most of all Schwarzeneggers films.

I'm not one to look back on 80s action films as cheesy, but this one was. It didn't seem like it had much of a budget and the scenes with his wife were ridiculous.

It was still an alright movie, but a disappointment after seeing Predator, Running Man, and Commando.
