Thailand studio rips off Disney and Don Bluth

First heard of this on another site, and posted about it in a Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray thread. A quick search shows a post in a thread in Otter as well:

GM Toons, a Thailand studio, has made cheap CGI knock-offs of several Disney films, being almost shot-for-shot remakes. The most notable that's been circulating the net is the Beauty and the Beast knock-off:

However, they've also ripped off Snow White:

And more recently, Dumbo:

Not content with just ripping off Disney, they also made a knock-off of Don Bluth's The Land Before Time:

And here in the US, we thought Asylum Studios made rip-offs....

What's funny is, not only are these shot-for-shot ripoffs with identical character designs, but they even ripped off the Disney Logo!

There's always money in the banana stand.

Since they obviously aren't worried about copyright, wouldn't it just be easier to dub over the original film?

Thought the same thing.

Wouldn't it be funny if some Thai kid grows up with these and later sees the original & thinks those are rip-offs.

Disney has already done that:

Almost all Disney films are released with a local dub in the respective country.

There is no right and wrong in the world...what a shame.

I wonder if they'll try 2D knockoffs of Pixar movies.

According to this page, they may have already done a CGI rip-off of UP:

Edit: "What's UP" is by Brazilian studio Vídeo Brinquedo, not GM Toons.

Also, they've apparently ripped of a Doremon movie, have a Winnie-the-Pooh knock-off called "Bearie and the Poo Cheetah Village", and ripped off a fellow Thai studio's original cartoon known as "The Blue Elephant" in the US:

That's the funniest thing to me. It even rips the Tinkerbell pixie dust rainbow/arch over the castle.

But hasn't Disney been doing this too, at least with the Lion King being almost a direct copy of Kimba the White Lion.

This thread reminds me of this old story. A Disneyland rip off theme park in China.

I remember years ago I was in Bahrain and there was a video store called Disney Video. Their logo was Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. The place was full of bootleg current theatrical movies.

Love it.

Some of them are probably better than the originals too.

I think the Lion King is the only case that can be made of Disney infringing on the rights of some other story. Every other film they've made has either been an adaptation of public domain story, an original work, or an original work.

In the case of Kimba, while there's some strong visual similarities in certain instances, and maybe certain sequences, the story itself is different, and there are many differences.

That's from the Brazilian studio Vídeo Brinquedo, who are also apparently responsible for the movie "What's UP" that I mentioned before. They've done a number of other films that are strikingly similar to other Disney/Pixar films.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vídeo_Brinquedo

However, at least the actual stories for those films are different, and aren't shot-for-shot remakes. They're more similar to Asylum, where it seems they rely on the similarities in titles and basic setting/characters to dupe unsuspecting customers to buy them.
