I'm not gay (really I'm not), but it took me awhile to enjoy watching Mark Ruffalo's performances. He's like the ugly twin brother of Vincent D'Onofrio, but once you get used to him, he grows on you, and eclipses D'Onofrio's best.

As far as "which actor has accomplished the most with least," my vote would be - John C. Reilley.

Practically every early movie he was in, up to Boogie Nights, he played a dim-witted schlep sad-sack loser. He's not attractive, he didn't really present much range (if you watch Casualties of War and The River Wild back-to-back, you'd think it's the same character).

But! Hey, I like him. Nobody dislikes him (that I know of, anyway), and he's had a tremendous career! He's even got an Oscar-nomination under his belt, and starred in a Pixar movie!

Because his mom owns the comedy store and is a behind the scenes legend for the comedy industry he started out on 3rd base basically in Hollywood. So built in connections he probably had the opposite of the least maybe the most aside from Tori Spelling.
How about any of the younger generation Wayans? Keenan Ivory and Damen basically paved a path for all of them. Damen Wayans, Jr. is basically a younger version of his Dad.
