The Lost Boys "Sax Man" Appreciation Thread
 
Just caught a theatrical screening of "The Lost Boys" this Friday and got to witness one of, if not the greatest scene stealer in the history of cinema on the big screen, The Sax Man. If anyone mentions the movie, I can't but help of this truly absurd and hilarious appearance first.



Sax Man is in fact so epic, Jon Hamm and SNL paid tribute to him recently in a very memorable sketch.

Why is it that every time when I'm at home sicker than a dog someone has to post some funny shit like this?? It hurts when I laugh now.

For the longest time, I thought I was the only one who appreciated the ignorance and awesomeness of the sax man.

I love that scene, one of my favorites. Between the song itself, a body builder playing the sax, those two guys headbanging in tandem, Cory Haim's outfit. Just an incredible, epic scene. Check out this "remix": :lol:

The craziest part of it all, is Sax Man is a real sax player. He actually wrote the song he's playing and pops up in two Tina Turner videos for Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, dressed as, you guessed it, Sax Man.

The "sax man" toured with Tina Turner.He was with her when I saw Tina in Bonner Springs KS,back in '93.I remember one woman in the audience nearly creamed her jeans over him.

Are you saying that he wrote the song that he's performing in THE LOST BOYS? If so, you're wrong. The song was originally recorded by The Call and written by members Michael Been and Jim Goodwin.

The Sax Man is a legend and its good to see that other people recognize this. Over the years me and my friends have never been able to watch the Lost Boys without rolling around laughing at his Sax antics in that scene. The hair, the clothes, his general oiliness or sweatiness and grinding rythmn are just comedy gold.

That is one scene in a movie where no matter what, someone makes a comment about it... I saw this thread and laughed before opening it, the scene from Eastbound and Down still on my mind

Im kinda ashamed to admit having that song on my ipod, along with the rest of the soundtrack

He surely belongs in the memorable characters in movies who have really small parts... I can only think of pimp Captain Kangaroo from Black Dynamite right now as another

Well, The Lost Boys was directed by Joel "Nipples on the Batman Costume" Schumacher. That's probably his favorite scene in the film.
