Boy in the stripped pajamas. Wasn't expecting it.

A Serbian Film

No, I'm not describing it.

Good gravy. The Wikipedia plot summary alone was too much for me.

I'll second these:
Pet Sematary (less shocking than moving and well done with its flashback jolts that remind one of the cliche "one's life flashing before one's eyes".)
In a Glass Cage
Funny Games
Salo

Why in the world would anybody watch something like that?

Aside from it being utterly revolting, the plot sounds absolutely idiotic.

Unless I've missed it, no one has mentioned Baby Blues. I watched this last year for the October Horror Challenge and wasn't prepared for what I was going to see.

What did you think of the overall film? I was kind of pissed off at the misleading cover/artwork (made to look like a horror/slasher movie). The cinematography and acting by the main older boy were excellent.

There was a whole discussion thread about the film last year and I pointed out then that I was blind to what the movie was about because the description on the back really didn't give a hint to what it entailed. To a certain a extent, I appreciated that and it added to the shock value of the violence towards children. The film itself was certainly effective and well done, though it was an uncomfortable watch for sure. I believe last year I specifically mentioned how impressed I was with the acting of the young male lead.

Schindler's List
Goeth sniping the young boy after "pardoning" him. I guess that's not really shocking considering the setting.

World's Greatest Dad
Spoiler:
Robin Williams' obnoxious asshole son accidentally hanging himself while jerking off.

Can't believe this didn't show up until page 2 of the thread. I remember thinking that the fat lady would be next, but no...

And the follow-up scene between the boy's mother and Chief Brody...what a gut-wrencher.

I don't recall any children being killed in that film.

Yeah, that stayed with me for awhile. BTW, have you seen John Rabe? Is it worth watching? I have it sitting in my pile but I don't feel like revisiting that subject matter right now.

then you should seriously read the book. Talk about gruesome... -kd5-
