Stanley Kubrick

One of the most celebrated directors of all-time.

Simply put, what is your favorite Stanley Kubrick film?

I did not include A.I. as a poll option for obvious reasons.

Lolita.

I absolutely love this film for its dark humor (funnier than most comedies) and James Mason's amazing performance. Peter Sellers adds a great (mostly) ad-libbed turn and the films long running time never hinders. A masterpiece.

Re: Stanley Kubrick

The Shining is my favorite horror movie of all time.

A Clockwork Orange is my favorite "cult" movie of all time.

Full Metal Jacket is my favorite war movie of all time.

Paths of Glory is my favorite anti-war movie of all time.

But 2001: A Space Odyssey is not only my favorite sci-fi movie of all time, but vies for contention as my favorite overall movie of all time.

Amazing how one director can hold sway over my tastes so much.

Full Metal Jacket, Spartacus, and The Shining are the only Kubrick films I have really liked (2001 was okay, but not much for rewatch). FMJ is the better made for me (the Shining a very close second).

2001. I remember seeing this in grade school on a field trip. Only me and one of the nuns loved it. All the kids thought I was nuts for liking it.

I like everything he's done except EYES WIDE SHUT. But DR. STRANGELOVE is his masterpiece.

Dr. Strangelove by a hair over The Killing.

Only seen Clockwork Orange & 2001 of his. 2001 was one of the most boring movies ever so I'll go with Clockwork.

2001: A Space Odyssey, followed by The Shining and Full Metal Jacket. Liked A Clockwork Orange back when it first came out, must've been high because a second viewing didn't do very well at all when my wife and I watched it recently. -kd5-

Wrote papers on both The Shining and Paths of Glory in college, so it's hard to pry myself from leaning towards those two in my answer. I'd like to say The Killing simply because it's awesome and likely won't get picked, but ... yeah, The Shining.
