I saw a similar film on tv in the seventies, I thought it was World Without End, but when I purchased it, it wasn't the film I was thinking of, maybe it is the one you are, though...

That's a very similar plot, but this one was more "realistic", if that's possible for a Mars-based movie. The bad guys in this one were basically human, but with more strength.

I really hate that I keep shooting all of these suggestions down. I do appreciate the help.

Thanks for the suggestions, but this one is still unsolved. There's no way I made up this complete plot and movie, or at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Inside jokes or not, they just get annoying more than anything the more that they are repeated. Heck I consider them threadcraps more than anything because the person asking a simple question is not getting an answer and they have to read through a bunch of useless joke posts.

That was the first thing I thought of too.

I find it hard to believe with the level of detail the OP remembers no one has come up with the title. I've seen "The one with that guy who did the thing" get solved here quicker (and yes, the answer was Groundhog Day). I'm beginning to think the OP is recounting a dream.

My whacked out brain sometimes churns up plot-lines and stuff and I can't remember if it was a book I read, I movie I'd seen, an old TV show, or a dream.

You may be right, but if you are right and this movie doesn't exist, maybe it should. ;-) Apparently I have some pretty vivid notions of how it should play out.

Maybe I should write a screen play for it. Ha, I wish I had the time to pull that off, but it would never happen.
