The rest of his stuff is a snoozefest for me but I was actually surprised at how few major films he has directed since you hear his name tossed around so much.

I looked at the movies he has directed on IMDB and I don't disagree with you. 300 is the only film of his I love from start to finish and he just basically copied Frank Miller's graphic novel page for page (but did it very well!). The much maligned Sucker Punch was a guilty pleasure of mine around the time it came out but I haven't rewatched it in awhile.

Watchmen is a decent adaptation in my opinion. Not perfect but pretty decent. I’ve always found Singer overrated personally. Not a fan of his X-Men films and all his other movies are kind of duds. I know a lot of people like The Usual Suspects, but its never been a favorite of mine.

D'oh.
Looking at Singer's stuff, I loved Superman Returns (which it seems most people hated). I am not a big fan of his X-Men stuff and I have always thought The Usual Suspects was way overrated.
So...about on par with Snyder's stuff.

I’m going for the music. Queen was the first band that I ever listened to in the 70s as a teen that my Mom absolutely hated. And I have heard the Live Aid sequence is incredible. I may actually see BH in IMAX...

I loved it too, actually. Singer truly captured the tone and feel of Donner and Lester's films. He is clearly a fan and it showed in every frame. I don't get all the hate for it either. Especially compared to the awful Snyder Superman movies. I think had Warner given Singer one or two sequels, he could have done some great things. But they opted to go a darker route hoping for "The Dark Knight" type box-office. Which they didn't get.

I never knew that Singer had this reputation.

This is apparently only tracking around $35mil???

Most of the theatres around me are filled up for tonight's showings and into the weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if this lands closer to $50-60mil, if not more.

Deadline was saying it expected at least $40m+ and that the $35m was pretty conservative.

I wasn’t originally sold on Rami in the role but he was great! That Live Aid sequence was awesome. The movie does seem light and sanitized though.

Just got back. I think people are trying to find faults, because they were "blown away" by Star is Born. Hopefully word of mouth will spread on how good Malek is as Freddie, he was fucking awesome. Agree, that the Live Aid sequence was stellar. Oh, and the dude that played Brian May was awesome, as well.
My showing was about 60% full.

Also, whoever thought of casting Mike Myers in a role that enables him to say "kids will never be able to bang their heads to this" in reference to Bohemian Rhapsody...

I didn't care for it. There was something weird about the way it was shot, I don't know how to put my finger on it, but it felt more like a lifetime movie of the week than a real movie.
To me, all the performance parts seemed like bad karaoke to me. There just wasn't any energy there. I dunno, maybe if I were a bigger fan of queen I'd have liked it? It didn't really go very deep into who Freddie Mercury was. I know as much about him now as I did before.

I would think someone who is a BIG Queen fan wouldn't like the movie. There is a lot of re-writing of history.
