Weren't they actually going to make a real ship that looked just like the Titanic? It was going to have all the modern safty equiptment & electronics but just outfitted to look like Titanic.

I remember hearing about it way back when Cameron's Titanic was out. Haven't heard anything since.

It wouldn't surprise me if this eventually airs on SyFy on some random Saturday night.

Yes, and it was in the planning stages so it could re-trace the original route on the 100th anniversary in 2012, but I think the funding fell through on it (or something similar), so instead there will be a commemorative route trace using an existing ship, called the Cruise Ship Balmoral.

Of course it's straight to DVD. It's produced by The Asylum known for such hits as Paranormal Entity and The Transmorphers.

I read somewhere that they shot for a few days on the Queen Mary, but the majority of the production was filmed in somebody's backyard.
