Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio as action stars.

I don't think I've ever seen Leonardo DiCaprio in full "action" mode but Damon absolutely killed it in the Bourne films. Though I'm guessing his inclusion in your post means you didn't care for those.

I don't know if the movie was "ruined" as it's not a great film to begin with but I was watching Epic for the first time the other day and kept wondering why only one person in the entire race of little forest people had an Irish accent. I'm not sure why they used Colin Farrell if they were just going to hire a bunch of Americans to voice all the other characters.

Marvel should have used David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury instead of Samuel L. Jackson, damn it!

I don't mind SLJ Fury but as a narrative I think classic Nick Fury could have been better for story purposes. Always though it was interesting that he did so much as an agent. Love those old Shield agent comics.

Steranko is THE MAN (sorry, King).

Don't mind Jackson in the movie, though. As time went on, got harder and harder to suspend disbelief re: WWII vet Fury still kicking butt.

I don't remember them mentioning Fury was a WW2 vet in any of the MCU films?

That's what got me into Marvel comics as a Sixth-grader. The first issue of Strange Tales that had Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I was really into Bond and the Man from U.N.C.L.E. at the time, so to find a comic book equivalent was amazing. And then I latched onto Spiderman and the Fantastic Four and the rest is history.

Oh, and ditto on Steranko! (He's going to appear at a comics show in Manhattan this weekend.)
