What have you seen in 70mm?

I assume that some of these are blowups since some of these films weren't shot in 70mm? God, I have to move to someplace you guys all are . What size is IMAX technically? Is it even bigger than 70mm? I've only seen two screenings at the real IMAX where I live, though I've seen a few in that digital LIEMAX at my local multiplex. Still looks good, and cool sound system, but a poor substitute for the real thing. I've never forgiven myself for missing The Dark Knight Rises is proper IMAX or even LIEMAX.

Re: What have you seen in 70mm?
The first IMAX film I remember seeing was an hour-long documentary about Niagara Falls shown in the auditorium of the Museum of Natural History in New York and as far as I could tell it was 70mm projected on a much bigger screen in a too-small venue. IMAX improved exponentially when they built specially made theaters for it like the one at Lincoln Square in Manhattan, where I saw my first 3-D IMAX film, a short feature called WINGS OF COURAGE.

Native 65mm movies I've seen in 70mm prints:
Lawrence of Arabia
2001
Baraka
Hamlet (1996)
Blow-ups from 35mm:
Vertigo
Gettysburg
Apocalypse Now Redux (pretty sure it was 70mm)
Short Cuts
Geronimo: An American Legend
There may have been more blow-ups. That's all I can think of at the moment. I don't believe there are any theaters in my region still equipped to project 70mm. (I'm not counting IMAX in this, which is a different thing entirely.)

Re: What have you seen in 70mm?
The Uptown Theater used to have 70MM festivals every year of so right up until circa 1991. About 7-10 films would play for about 2 weeks. A new title every two days or so. I saw the following during these festivals: "Blade Runner", "Altered States", "2010" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". I remember even seeing "The Exorcist" on the lineup one year. I didn't even know there was a 70MM print of that.
When I was a kid, I saw Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" in 70MM at the Tysons Cinema. That was pretty cool.

hmm, well let's see saw Ryan's Daughter last Friday - the print looked great and sounded fantastic (6-track mag sound) albeit with small Swedish subtitles.
Sunday - saw Around the World in Eighty Days - well, that print looked simply horrendous - it ranged from pink to near all round red - this is how 70mm prints fades - it ain't pretty. On the plus side the mag sound really shined - not sure why it wasn't nominated for an Oscar since the directional five channel front sound and surrounds really were astonishing.

Re: What have you seen in 70mm?
I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in 70mm during it's original run and then 20 years later in glorious pink 70mm. Also have seen Laurence of Arabia, Alien, West Side Story, Sound of Music, Star Trek II and III, Ghostbusters, Aliens and probably a few others I've forgotten.
