Sequels with different MPAA ratings from the original?
A co-worker asked me if there was ever a film series in which a sequel had a different rating from the original, esp. if a sequel to a PG or PG-13 film had ever been rated R. I couldn't think of any, but I could think of a PG-13 sequel to an R-rated film: TERMINATOR SALVATION.
How often has this happened, i.e. a ratings change in either direction? Thanks. |
Re: Sequels with different MPAA ratings from the original?
It's very frequent that sequels to R-rated movies are rated PG-13 or even PG to increase mass appeal. Beverly Hills Cop, Robocop, Police Academy, etc etc etc.
The other way around is much more rare. I can't think of any examples. |

For all the info Wikipedia provides, I'm really surprised they don't list a film's MPAA rating.

Try and add a rating to almost any movie article, and you'll get reverted within minutes. Within seconds if it's a high-profile flick. |

I think because it was a tame R rating; there wasn't much cussing, naked chicks, or gun-violence. Plus it sucked :)
