Top Gun: Maverick (2022, D: Kosinski) -- S: Tom Cruise

Tom has a shot at second Gun

TOM CRUISE has been asked to dust off his aviator shades for a Top Gun sequel.

Movie bosses want to bring back cocky fighter-pilot trainee Maverick 22 years after the first film.

The move follows hit sequels to the adventures of fellow ’80s heroes Indiana Jones and Rocky.

A script outline has been written, but the sequel depends on Cruise, 46, saying yes.

An insider said: “The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor — and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”

-Could be Tom Cruises comeback movie.

Cocky new female pilot? What is this, Karate Kid 4? Sounds embarrassing.

I think I read that they wanted to make a sequel 20 years ago, as a matter of fact, it sounds very familiar to this film. From imdb:

"A script for "Top Gun 2" was completed shortly after the release of the film, but it broke down in pre-production because 1) the military's technology had become updated and they didn't want camera crew anywhere near their new aircraft and 2) Cruise did not want a sequel and finally agreed to star in one for a very high amount that was deemed "unaffordable." The script followed the further adventures of Maverick as an instructor at the Top Gun academy, the twist being a cocky female reminiscent of himself joining the team."

Sounds like they're dusting off a 20 year old script.

So, if they opt to go through with this, and it, invariably, tanks at the box office, one would imagine that whatever company financing this would go under.

As such, Tom Cruise would, seemingly, not be able to procure any of the money he was promised.

One might, then, say that the studio was writing checks Tom Cruise couldn't cash.

(I feel dirty now.)

Just won't be the same.

Kansas City BBQ, where the "Great Ball of Fire" piano scene was filmed, was gutted by fire last month.

Top Gun is now located in.... Nevada

Goose is still dead

I'm all for this, as long as they also make it the 3rd installment of the Riddick movies, and Maverick joins forces with Riddick to rescue Goose from the Underverse!

If rebooting a series is a goldmine, imagine what rebooting 2 series will do!

No way is Tom Cruise gonna do this movie.
Say what you want about his personal life or whatever but the past 10 years he has been in some amazing films. This does not sound like the type of movie he is gonna be involved in.

It would work.
With all the stuff going on in the world they could make it a good action movie.
They could easily top the romance from the 1st movie, but the music soundtrack is another thing. Will they use rap samples of DANGER ZONE, TAKE MY BREATH AWAY?

I doubt Paramount would want Tom back.
