I'm trying to decide if I want to see this Thurs afternoon or Friday morning. They want way too much ($22 for any age) for the Tues Early Access show. Plus it's almost full.

It’s $17 for the early access showing at my local imax and it’s an actual full size imax location. My local AMC with the smaller imax screen wants $15 for the Friday showings. Needless to say we’re going to the Tuesday showing. Only thing that sucks is no reserved seating, so we’ll be lining up early like we used to do back in the day.

Same here. Haven't waited in a line for theater seating in a LONG time, but maybe that will be part of the charm for a nostalgia type of movie such as this... plus I found out my IMAX was renovated years back and has dual laser projection and new audio system. Gonna be fucking amazing

mine's only $12.50 at regal multi-plex in Hudson County, NY. i thought that was pretty decent. had no idea some of the astronomical prices y'all are paying. ouch. i have a credit for chickening out of Doctor Strange 2. may use it on this.

The prices being quoted are for that screening. I paid $17 for mine. It's varying from $17 to 25 depending on the area.

If you trying to make a case for the fact that there is no logical reason to bring back Meg Ryan, isn't she the mother of one of the pilots in this movie? If there was mutual interest, there could have easily been a logical place for her.

This is what Kosinski said regarding those two characters:
Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski revealed on ReelBlend that neither character came up during the sequel’s development. Kosinski was blunt about why the characters didn’t get brought back. He said they:
Not in the story that I worked on. Clearly, their spirits hang over the film in certain ways. There is a glimpse, as you guys know, of both of them in the film. But it was important that we wanted to make sure we were telling a new chapter of Maverick's life. We didn't want to be looking back the whole time. So, we've got his relationship with Penny Benjamin (which) is the focus of this story. Which, you know, for the diehard fans is a fun one because she was only mentioned briefly in (Top Gun). Just that one line (of dialogue) was a great starting point for this whole new character.

So you didn't chicken out of one movie, you still chicken out of all movies. You made it sound like you bought a ticket and left the theater as the movie started.

character where they’d need his mom to show up.
You’re probably right though, Ryan could have easily been written into the movie if they wanted to.
Re-watching the original, I forgot how little screen time she actually got. She’s probably in it less than 5 minutes total.

I do have to hand it to Cruise, he found a great way to bank roll his hobbies. I can't imagine what he costs to insure.

Its been reported in the past on Mission films, they lied about what stunts they were doing to get past stuff like that.
I would still think they would shoot all the most dangerous stuff last, so they at least had a film in case Cruise would die or something. But I have no idea

They did it anyway. And it was the last day of filming.

I watched a making of promo and I guess I was slightly disappointed to learn that Tom Cruise did not do his flying in the F18? I mean he obviously really flew in the plane but wasn't in control. It makes sense since it's a real F18 and it's not like the Navy will let just anyone fly one. But since he is a capable pilot and given his penchant for doing things for real himself I thought he would be the one flying.

I see there is a spoiler filled review thread, but is there anyone who saw it last night who wants to give their spoiler free thoughts?! I'm afraid to venture in that thread.
