Good, but irritating performances

What are some performances you think are good, but irritating at the same time? For me, Joey Lauren Adams in Chasing Amy.

Puff Daddy in Monster's Ball. He definitely did a good job, but the fact that he's P. Diddy made it hard to take his good performance seriously. Had he been an unknown and given the same performance I would have given him much more props.

Mickey Rooney in pretty much every movie he made from 1935 till he joined the army around 1943. Esp. those musicals with Judy Garland. He's like a pint-sized Robin Williams, but without the wit. He was a huge boxoffice star for a few years (1939-43) and he's full of boundless energy in those performances, but he's really damned annoying and overshadows poor Judy, who excelled away from him in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS and a bunch of other musicals, as well as THE CLOCK.

But I will say this for Mickey--he married Ava Gardner while he was on top. That's more than Robin Williams ever did.

Matthew McConaughey is irritating in everything. And he doesn't get a pass because he has 30 seconds of screen time in Dazed.

Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element. I have and continue to think he was terrific in that role.

Pesci in Lethal Weapon 2. I don't consider him good in any of the other sequels.

Rosie Perez in White Men Can't Jump (well, pretty much in ANYTHING...but most of those others weren't particularly good performances)

She was absolutely perfect in Night on Earth.

Al Pacino in Heat, Rod Steiger in The Big Knife and Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse Now. James Dean in everything.

Al Pacino in the final scenes of "The Devil's Advocate." Personally loved Taylor Hackford's twisted Faust-like film but felt Pacino just went totally over-the-top with all the shouting.

Julianne Moore, Magnolia.

She's one of my favorite actresses, but some of her scenes make me cringe when I watch them.
