Good, but irritating performances
What are some performances you think are good, but irritating at the same time? For me, Joey Lauren Adams in Chasing Amy.

James Woods in just about everything.

Re: Good, but irritating performances
Nick Cage in Vampire's Kiss
|
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Tom Hanks- Forrest Gump

Re: Good, but irritating performances
Puff Daddy in Monster's Ball. He definitely did a good job, but the fact that he's P. Diddy made it hard to take his good performance seriously. Had he been an unknown and given the same performance I would have given him much more props.

But I will say this for Mickey--he married Ava Gardner while he was on top. That's more than Robin Williams ever did. http://www.digicamhelp.com/photo_col...ey_gardner.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_94wGm5Prdv...keyroonpb1.jpg |

Matthew McConaughey - We Are Marshall

Re: Good, but irritating performances
Matthew McConaughey is irritating in everything. And he doesn't get a pass because he has 30 seconds of screen time in Dazed.

Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element. I have and continue to think he was terrific in that role. [/asbestos] |
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Good call on Chris Tucker.

Pesci in Lethal Weapon 2. I don't consider him good in any of the other sequels.

Re: Good, but irritating performances
Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny
|
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Rosie Perez in White Men Can't Jump (well, pretty much in ANYTHING...but most of those others weren't particularly good performances)

The guy that played Samwise in LOTR (forgot his name).
|
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Al Pacino in the final scenes of "The Devil's Advocate." Personally loved Taylor Hackford's twisted Faust-like film but felt Pacino just went totally over-the-top with all the shouting.

Re: Good, but irritating performances
Sharon Stone in Casino
|
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Al Pacino in Scent of A Woman. Hoo-Ha!!!

John Turturro as Bernie Bernbaum in Miller's Crossing
He is so hateable. Which of course was the purpose |
Re: Good, but irritating performances
Julianne Moore, Magnolia.
She's one of my favorite actresses, but some of her scenes make me cringe when I watch them. |
