Movie help (not the Musketeer)

Recently bought the Musketeer thinking it was another movie

one where a man is imprisoned by his best friend, takes him 20 years to escape and by this time his girl had married his ex-friend raised his son and pits them agains each other.

Anyone?

Might I add that if you refer to the JimCaviezel / Guy Pearce version, though it's a horrible adaptation of the book, it's an excellent adventure movie.

Actually the one thing that I think the movie did better than the book was to have the 2 men be friends beforehand. In the book, they really didn't know each other that well when one betrays the other.

The French version of that is amazing, the big production with Gerard Depardieu in the lead.

One of my favorite DVD's.

The 1934 version is awesome. It was the only Hollywood film made by the great British actor Robert Donat.

Richard Chamberlain made a pretty good version for TV in 1975.
