Depends on word-of-mouth, although even then I don't see big drops from Friday-Saturday-Sunday.

I say no. When Dark Knight IMAX midnight showings tickets went on sale around my area (SoCal) it sold out in like 3 or 4 days. Also there was a 3:00am showing that sold out. Iron Man IMAX tix went on sale last month and the midnight showing didn't sell out until this week.

Iron Man 2 has a lot of hype but it seems to come more from online/comic fans. I'm anxious to see it but, with The Dark Knight it seemed like everyone was interested in seeing it. So I vote no to this poll.

The first was very well received and the sequel has much more hype and anticipation heading into the opening weekend. I think it has a decent chance, but will probably fall short a little. I see an opening of anywhere from $145-$150 million on its way to over $400 million.

Nope. It's good, but not Dark Knight good, and the anticipation level for TDK was absolutely through the roof. This will make very good money, but I don't see it making Dark Knight numbers.

To make this more interesting (and it is off-topic), what movie will beat TDK's opening weekend? Avatar 2? The Avengers? Batman 3? White Chicks 2?

Anyway, I voted no. It'll have a healthy opening but Iron Man 2 doesn't have the necessary hype to do so.

My guess is the final Harry Potter movie will beat TDK's opening weekend. It'll be 3D, it'll be in IMAX, and it will be the very last Harry Potter film, so even people who may have skipped out on the last few will come back to the theaters for one last wizarding hurrah.

White Chicks 2 will come up just short, but Avatar 2 will beat it for sure.

I think this movie will have similar grosses to POTC 2. Both POTC 1 and IM1 had similar grosses, were out-of-left-field mega blockbusters, and were firmly rooted around the bravado performance of the lead performer. I expect final grosses to be around $450m or so.
