Paramount Pictures & What Movie-Goers "Want"

I just got a spring newsletter from Paramount's "Movie Minds" program. They periodically ask for participation in online surveys, and this time they saw fit to share some of the findings. I, in turn, thought I'd share them with you guys.

In terms of what really impacted your moviegoing experience Comfortable Seats were the number one most highly prized element, followed closely by good sound and high quality visual presentation. Also important were clean floors and convenient parking. Less important was food around the theatre, multiple screens showing the same movie, the opening weekend of the movie, and traditional food at the theatre (though more of you asked for “good” food at the theatre).

In terms of your top choice for what you look for IN a movie – Most important were actors you like – followed closely by good reviews and the idea that friends liked it. Also important were a good or well liked director and action.

What, no mention of wanting lower ticket prices?

I'm glad they took the time and energy to conduct this survey. I'll file it under "No shit!"

No mention of less talking, cell phones, and distractions in general? I find that hard to believe.

I can guarantee you that wasn't a choice.

And there was probably a multiple-choice question:

Do you think our movies are:

A)Really good
B)Super
C)Perfect
D)Totally entertaining

Hmmm...since it was Paramount of TRANSFORMERS fame, I hoped they asked the much-awaited question:

Which remakes of Paramount classics do you want to see Megan Fox in?

a) Vertigo
b) Breakfast at Tiffany's
c) Barbarella
d) Raiders of the Lost Ark
e) Beverly Hills Cop
f) Forrest Gump
g) all of the above

Duke Phillips: Why the hell do you have to be so critical?
Jay Sherman: I'm a critic! It's my job!
Duke Phillips: No, your job is to rate movies on a scale from "good" to "excellent."
Jay Sherman: What if I don't like them?
Duke Phillips: That's what "good" is for.

Well this sort of explains Gold Class cinemas - $29 per ticket. For that, you get leather chairs that recline!
