Saw the trailer a while back. Out of all the Perry movies I have seen trailers for, I would consider watching this one. I probably won't see it though.

I saw this trailer before "The Town", and my audience was howling the whole time. Who knows, the film could be good. But the trailer really was so over dramatic and over the top.

Ha. Looks like he took the criticism and shortened the title.

I can't believe that kids get through high school these days without being beaten over the head with this play. I feel both outdated and envious. Have they removed Silas fucking Marner from the curriculum, too?

It seems the original title was even too long for the play. Notice they didn't have room for 'enough' so they went with the shitty spelling to fit it in.

That trailer was melodramatic enuf for ME to consider suicide.
Judging by the trailer though, I do look forward to seeing Whoopi Goldberg's portrayal of a Voodoo Priestess.

Yeah i'm not a fan of Perries films but not gonna come in and bash a movie I've never seen. Why is the rampant thread crapping allowed in this thread? I thought that was against the rules???

Men are bad, I guess that's the big surprise waiting for viewers of "For Colored Girls", Tyler Perry's latest effort, which was adapted from a play, so the dialogue is full of flowery monologues at times, but a cut above most of Tyler Perry-penned movies. Unfortunately, Perry is not all that skilled as a filmmaker to translate this play into a rich cinematic viewing experience, and it just turns into a boring, plodding mess where a cast of "colored" women, who share low degrees of separation with one another, undergo all sorts of bad things to themselves, with men being the root all all that is bad in their lives. Couple that with a plea for girls to take back their power, it turns a 30-minute after-school special topic into a long-winded 2-hour movie that bludgeons its audience into sheer oblivion.
I give it 1 star, or a grade of D.

It's a good movie. I went to see it with a friend who's going through some of the stuff in the film and I have friends who have had things in the film happen to them in the past. So it was easy to relate to the women, and yes, even the men. When we left where were talking about things in the film all the way home.
It made us think about things in our own lives and how we react to them.

I loved it. It was very depressing, but inspiring how the characters come through in the end. There are small moments in the movie
that are examples of masterful filmmaking.
The performances were tremendous. I loved the way all the characters connected, really felt like a play, in a good way. The more I think about it the more I like it.

The movie goes on and on and on and on. I was the only person in the theater. The dialog is incomprehensible, with such gems as "being colored is a metaphysical challenge I have not yet overcome" and "I slowly opened my painted thighs to give my crotch some sunshine".
Tyler Perry is trying to be Alex Haley and Spike Lee all at the same time. And it fails on an epic level.

I am amazed that someone other than myself actually managed to sit through all 134 minutes of this movie!

Wait, you did get that those were POEMS didn't you? Instead breaking out in song, in this film it was POETRY.
As far as the language being incomprehensible, I don't know what to say. I understood it with no problem at all.
