I'm usually good at remembering titles,but I must have watched 4 or 5 movies in a row and I just can't think of the title.

The movie takes place after World War 1 or 2. Pretty sure 2. There is a vetran in a hospital who has lost his memory. One night he leaves the hospital and goes to a show and passes out. A woman in the show takes care of him,they fall in love and get married. They move to the country and he starts writing. During a trip to the city he has some sort of accident and loses his memory again. His family sees his picture in the paper and they reunite. His family is wealthy and he becomes a doctor I think. Anyway his wife finds out and becomes his secretary to jog his memory and recall his life with her.

It was in black & white. That's about all I can remember about it.

I feel compelled to add, in light of J.D. Salinger's death a month or two ago, that this movie was referenced in Catcher in the Rye although it's never identified as such and Salinger mangles the plot a little.
