Iron Man had 8 PM shows, as did Star Trek.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Love it. Fuck The Dark Knight, Hit Girl would kick his ass. The only thing I would have changed is the casting of the Superbad guy. If I had my way that guy would never be heard from again. I think Hot Tub Time Machine guy would have made a good Red Mist. Can't wait for the sequel.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Saw it at a 10pm showing tonight. Loved it. Very entertaining. Hit Girl was amazing.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
My 10 o'clock showing just had maybe two dozen people. Overall, I thought it was fun, but nothing spectacular or anything that stands out. Hit Girl really steals the show and makes the movie more fun and entertaining then it would be otherwise. I didn't really like some of the changes from the comic book, having read that two weeks ago. Especially the changes with Big Daddy and how the way they handle Red Mist.
From the comic - Spoiler:
Meanwhile, Lyndsey Fonseca  |

This movie rocked. Has potential to be this decade's Fight Club in terms of divided opinions and its brilliant postmodernism.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Just got back and I loved it. It started out great, slowed in the middle, then picked up again a grand way. Hit Girl stole the show and I found myself wanting more of her and Big Daddy. Not that I didn't like the other characters, for instance Mark Strong is always a fave of mine, but Hit Girl...wow.
I do think the folks who made this were brave in their depiction of violence where Hit Girl was concerned. |
Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Mark Strong, Chloe Moretz, and Nic Cage are the highlights of this movie. When I focus solely on their scenes, especially the Hit-Girl action sequences, I'd say this is one of the best movie's I've seen. In reality, it's a two hour movie that feels like it's two-hours and has a lot of so-so filler.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
I loved it. I thought that Hit-Girl stole the show of course, but I loved all of the characters.
Just good fun, and I saw it with a good crowd. The best movie I've seen so far this year. |
Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
I enjoyed the hell out of it, and so did the midnight crowd
There was applause several times during the moving including: Spoiler:
I think Hit Girl stole the show too. There were 2 big differences from the book which were acceptable, but the Katie one bothered me most. Just cause I wanted to see the cell phone pic part in the movie, which was hilarious in the book. Its funny that Cage kicked more ass looking like Batman, than others have as Batman. My theater was about half full. Idk how the 10:00 show did. |
Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
I would love to see a sequel to this movie, but judging from what I'm reading with not many full preview screenings, that seems unlikely. I think the best bet is if it gets a huge DVD following a las Austin Powers and we maybe get a sequel three or four years from now. If nothing else, Hitgirl will be close to grown up at that point and possibly be given more than a supporting role. It's obvious from all of the reading she's the highpoint of the movie. Chloe Moretz has talent and I hope she gets more roles, but doesn't turn into Lindsey Lohan in five or so years.

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
I think a sequel is guaranteed. You can't judge this movie's success from it's preview screenings. Most films that get preview screening are part of a popular franchise (Terminator, Transformers, Friday the 13th), therefore already have a built-in fan base. I'm sure the film will be successful after people start Tweeting (Can't really say word of mouth. Do people really talk anymore?).

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
with only a $30m budget, I can see it being a big enough success, even without sold out screenings

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Hopefully Chloe Moerntz is as good in the Let The Right One In Remake as she is in this

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Considering the movie has a budget of $30 Million, that Vaughn raised himself, id say sequel chances are pretty good.
Just noticed Hit Girl is in 500 days of Summer. Time for a re watch. |
Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Might I suggest "Suck-Ass" for the title of its sequel?
It's dicey to cast such a young girl in these roles because over the course of filming for a few months, her back teeth (molars, I guess) came in, and she spouted up by about 6 inches in height when you compare Hit Girl in her first scene to her dolled-up school girl scene in the last act, and then her very last scene was filmed earlier because her back teeth were missing once again. |
Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Wow, you notice teeth?

Re: Kick-Ass (Vaughn, 2010) — The Reviews Thread
Did you notice how Big Daddy would go from having a mustache to a fu-manchu and then back to a mustache? Talk about inconsistencies.

We get it, you didn't like the movie. Fine and dandy. However, you don't need to come back ever so often to re-iterate. It gives off a trolling vibe after a while. |

I thought it was great. As most have said, Hit Girl stole the show. I also loved how Cage spoke like Adam West from the Batman TV series whenever he was in his Big Daddy costume. |

I think criticism is one thing, coming in to say "Suck-Ass" is another.
