Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife aka RE4

Caught this in the afternoon. It was fairly enjoyable. A few too many slow motion shots just to show off 3D effects, and a few plot/characters that seemed to go nowhere, but it was a good continuation of the characters we've seen from the previous 3 movies, and continuity through sequels is a thing I always appreciate.

Having played Resident Evil 5, I have to admit I geeked out a bit...
Spoiler:
seeing the big giant dude with the sledge hammer/axe thing, as well as the controlling device on the chest and the Wesker fight, although it ended really weakly.

One question regarding the characters...
Spoiler:
What was the deal with Luther? Alice aluded to having seen him before, but I wasn't sure if the sole purpose of that was the billboard gag or there was something more. Then he seems to survive the end for no real reason, which is odd since everyone else was just canon fodder. Was there another purpose for his character?

I finally saw this for free, and felt ripped off. I really hope weskers acting is meant to be horrible (for obvious reasons). If it wasn't intentional which i think it was, then it was just dreadful

And this was also the first time when 3d actually gave me a headache. Don't know why this movie did it and no other ones do.

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife aka RE4

I DVR'd this a week ago and finally watched it the other day. I regret having done so. I should've known Anderson couldn't direct a competent movie - actually, I do know that - but this was such a fucking laughably bad film I don't even know where to begin. Lots of shitty 3D gags (I really wish directors would stop doing this since 95% of people who don't see it in theaters are watching it in 2D), terrible scripting... it was more like a bad Matrix movie than a zombie flick. I enjoyed the last one, but this was total shit.

I was a little confused by your ambiguity and flip-flopping. How did you like it? I saw this with my son in the theater in 3D. I don't like 3D and actually liked it better at home. Maybe because it was the first one I had seen it didn't bother me. I expected cheese and got it.

I went into this not expecting much, and still found it shockingly awful.
