Somebody want to explain Mulloholland Drive to me? (SPOILERS GALORE)
Okay everything was going fine until the last half an hour. It became a super mind****. Keep in mind, the only Lynch film I had seen before was Eraserhead (didn't think it was that great) but like this film itself was portrayed good it's just I don't get it.
Especially the end scene.
Like who's the cowboy? What does Adam have to do with anything? Why are people closing his bank account? Who are the people following him? Why does he have to cast Camilla? What does that have to do with Diane's story?
What's the blue box? Who's the homeless man? Who's the dude that faints in beginning?
I heard one interpretation was that Diane imagined herself as Betty to hide her guilt but it overwhelms her to suicide. Okay I get that but what do the other things have to do with anything? Why the whole Adam being chased by the dudes, the Cowboy, like jeeze hahah.
I picked the wrong time to watch this movie too.

First 30 seconds is her falling down on her bed after taking some pills or something.
After that, the first half is a dream. Weird things happen and are somehow justified (the way it often is with dreams). Each abstract thing is pulled from her real life and manipulated around (the way it often is with dreams).
Second half is real. She's not a star. The movie star isn't in love with her. Her real life is a disappointment. We are introduced to many of the characters and situations that were 'idealized' in her dreams.
Now you can go and read a ten page explination somewhere, that'll comb over every little detail.

^ WTF?
Anyways, IMDb has a good theory in the FAQ section.
I just can't figure out who the cowboy represents. Otherwise, it all makes sense in a Lynch kinda way.

The Cowboy was first spotted in the real-world (in a quick background shot), at the exact moment Naomi Watts realized she was losing Laura Herring forever to Justin Theroux.
In Naomi's dream/idealized existence, the Cowboy was the string-puller who was purposefully destroying Justin Theroux's life. Taking away his film, his wife, his house, his credit cards, his entire existence. Just like Theroux was (in real life) taking away what mattered most to Naomi Watts.
Such a brilliant movie. I would like to filter coffee through Laura Harring's panties.

Okay thanks for the articles, makes a lot more sense now. I was thinking to myself, this is playing out like a dream and probably deals with guilt and turns out I was right. I was just trying to piece how everything fit it into the movie and now it makes a bit sense.
Really reminds me of how Barton Fink plays out.
I think I'm going to watch Lost Highway next, then move on to Blue Velvet and then go to Inland Empire.

Straight Story, I started it, got bored but I'll go back to it. Twin Peaks, did that even have a conclusion? I know they made the movie but the tv series never concluded.

Here is the plot arc as I understand it:
(Artsy filler material) --> OMFG Lesbian Love Scene!! --> Creepy Spanish cover of Orbison song --> (Artsy filler Material)
I might have the order of the middle two elements backwards. It doesn't really matter.

Once you get the dream factor in consideration, the plot's pretty clear. This movie actually makes for an interesting pairing with Inland Empire, which also is about Hollywood...I think.

Honestly, there wasn't that much artsy stuff in this movie.
