Re: The Mechanic (Remake) - Jason Statham, Ben Foster
Bronson would wipe his balls with Statham. That being said, I highly doubt this can even come close to the awesomeness of the original. Bronson had one of my favorite movie houses ever in that film, and it had such a cool cast.

Statham: the new Bronson. And the new Lee Marvin. And the new Chuck Norris. And the new...[fill in your old action favorite here].
Now, he's gotta remake CHATO'S LAND next. And THE STONE KILLER. And HARD TIMES. And VIOLENT CITY (aka THE FAMILY). And BREAKOUT. And THE EVIL THAT MEN DO. My God, he can just keep remaking Bronson all the way until he's 72 and can remake DEATH WISH V (which came out when Bronson was 72).

Re: The Mechanic (Remake) - Jason Statham, Ben Foster
I BARELY remember this thread...but anyway...a trailer is out. Still need to see the Bronson original. Either way...I'm in for this.

Arthur Bishop (Statham) is a ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It’s a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed – he wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry’s son Steve (Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop’s trade. Bishop has always acted alone but he can’t turn his back on Harry’s son. A methodical hit man takes an impulsive student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born. But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become problems themselves.

Re: The Mechanic (Remake) - Jason Statham, Ben Foster
While no one can replace Bronson, Statham is far from terrible; he at least tries to make some of the lamest movies fun. Ben Foster however is a HUGE upgrade from Jan Michael Vincent and Simon West might have made ConAir and Tomb Raider, but both were unapologetically over-the-top and from an editing standpoint more tolerable than a Bay film.
I predict this will be an enjoyable B-Movie.

Donald Sutherland plays the Keenan Wynn role. I like that. I'm in.

Trailer looks much better than I thought. Loved seeing Sutherland channel Wynn, and I agree Foster is a major upgrade. Statham is no Bronson, but this looks like it could be entertaining.

Ben Foster annoys the hell out of me (though to be fair I've only seen him on 6FU and maybe 3 movies), but the movie looks like it'll be entertaining, Statham has upheld his B-movie action star credentials pretty well.

I fucking hated Foster on "Six Feet Under". Each week I was praying he'd be the one who died at the beginning of the episode. I don't like most of his work, but he was pretty good in "3:10 to Yuma" and "The Messenger".

I actually hated him in 3:10 to Yuma, imo he didn't pull that role off at all. I do need to watch Messenger sometime.
