LOL...you mean in her whole 6 minutes of screen time?

David Denby of the New Yorker is supposedly posting his review sometime after 12 am tonight. that's when the review embargo for the film ends.

David Denby is an idiot. Was this movie filmed in New York. If not he'll probably hate it.

I wasn't very excited about this film but having seen the trailer I am there day one. I love Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' soundtrack, also. I wonder if I should read the book before or after seeing it?

Actually the embargo ends like a week from now and Denby is pissing Sony off royally by posting his review tonight. They've even communicated to other members of the press that the release of his review in no way signals the end of the embargo.

The ultimate hilarity of it all is that this review that Sony is trying to suppress is supposedly a positive one.

The embargo seems odd to me. It's not like it's Green Lantern.

Fun Fact: Columbia (or Tri-Star), ever since the purchase by Sony, has never won an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Embargos, and their whining like little twats about The New Yorker breaking said embargo, is why that streak will continue.

All of this ^^^^

I've never understood review embargos. They're not going to change an opinion one way or the other.

But as far as that review, it says almost nothing at all about the movie that we didn't already know.

Yeah, you could swap out the names of actors and crew for the original and no one could tell the difference.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009 & 2012 editions)

In terms of iconography I can't think of any modern character that can compare to Lisbeth Salander except for Hannibal Lecter and I'm sure there were people in 1991 who thought it would never get any better than Brian Cox as Lecter.

Noomi Rapace will always have her fans but even from trailers I think Rooney Mara does a much better job at capturing Lisbeth.

Ultimately I think people who see the Swedish versions as something authentic and untouchable and have written the "Hollywood" version off as something false are going to be eating a lot of crow here in the next few weeks.

I just felt they were two different performances of Lisbeth. Rooney shows Lisbeth's vulnerability and lack of social skills. Noomi was a pretty balls to the wall man hater.

Makes it sound like Rooney is a better adaptation of the book then, given devilshalo's description.

8-minute trailer also viewable here: http://vimeo.com/33093825

Some theaters across the country are selling advance tickets for the 20th: http://www.imdb.com/showtimes/title/...346/2011-12-20. Unfortunately where I live it's only AMC Theaters at this time.

Why is Michael Bay seemingly exempt from these time constraints? Would Sony be less vigilant if Fincher had giant CGI robots trashing Stockholm?

Is this a serious question? Micheal Bay's movies make many times more than any of Fincher's ever have.

im sure the closer we get to the 20th, Cinemark and other chains will have listings. Hopefully that 7pm showing on wed is advertised well and people show up

Denby's been banned from Fincher movies. Funny.

I don't get the controversy, the review really didn't say anything one way or the other.

I just finished watching the original trilogy. I'll go see the remake out of curiosity. Will most likely take my pop during the holidays.
