Robert De Niro is Vince Lombardi
From /Film
Robert De Niro has signed to play legendary football coach Vince Lombardi in ESPN Films’ big screen feature Lombardi. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Munich, Benjamin Button, The Insider) penned the script. The National Football League is involved in the project, which means we probably won’ see anything controversial in the movie (steroids, alcohol). |

Lombardi in the style of "The Blind Side". I'll see it when it hits ESPN.

Re: Robert De Niro is Vince Lombardi
Just saw this myself. Very interesting choice. Nothing against De Niro, but I wonder if going with such a recognizable actor was the best decision. I remember reading an opinion that the guy who played Kevin Arnold's dad in the Wonder Years would be a good fit, and really liking that. At least with De Niro and Eric Roth attached it isn't going to be some TV movie of the week caliber production, and with the NFL involvement we won't have to see the Packers play someone like the Fort Worth Cowpokes in the Ice Bowl.

Were steroids being taken at this point in time?
I think De Niro is a fine choice, but I'm most excited about Roth. The man just has a talent for writing awesome films, can't wait to see what he's got in store for this one. |
Re: Robert De Niro is Vince Lombardi
Vince Lombardi? dam I would do a bio-pic of let's say Walter Payton now that would be very nice to see.
