Hideo Nakata is remaking The Entity.

I noticed that IMDB has a listing for a remake of the classic Barbara Hershey incubus rape-fest The Entity being made by Japanese horror master Hideo Nakata (Ring, Dark Water). "Confirmed" by Wikipedia.

The original was a decent product of its time. An update could be interesting, especially in Nakata's hands.

Now this is one remake I might consider seeing. It's an interesting concept and idea. And Hershey was so goddamn annoying in the original film I wouldn't care if she were raped multiple times by "the entity" in that movie.

This is definitely interesting. I've been aiming to see the original for a while now.

This was announced years ago. I think it may be dead in the water at this point, as I've heard zero news in a long time.

how ironic that i see this thread after i f-up taping the original on FMC last night. have been looking for it for at least half a year and then finally see the listing and i messed the time of record and blew it. usually FMC replays a lot, but not this one in the near future

Curious. Did the FMC showing have the original music? The OOP Anchor Bay dvd has some of the music replaced. Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright" is replaced with generic rock.

Didn't read carefully. Missed that recording didn't work out. When you do watch it pay attention to two scenes. One has the teenage kid in the garage working on a car with loud rock blaring. The other is where the mom is being raped and the kid doesn't hear it because he's in his room with loud rock playing. Both times it's generic. Then read the end credits for song(s) that weren't in the movie.

Hmmm. The original Entity is one of my favorites. How long till they remake another one of my favorites, Burnt Offerings??
