I guess 300 was an OK comic book movie but as a movie about Sparta or Thermopylae it was terrible. But I guess if you are into homoerotica it was fantastic.

What's wrong with homoerotica? Carol was fantastic. Interview With A Vampire, Point Break, etc. Those have that, too, but they don't have full on male/male - female/female action. Wait, unless you're going to say that those films are awful too. 300's overall box-office dictates otherwise in terms of its success. That flick was a massive hit and every dude-bro was all up on its jock during those MySpace days.
Yeah, no one ever said 300 was a biographical tale about Sparta and Thermopylae. Did a 9-foot Persian General actually exist?

James Cameron will film all 4 Avatar sequels simultaneously.

ON SHOOTING ALL NEW ‘AVATAR’ FILMS CONCURRENTLY:
“It’s not back-to-back. It’s really all one big production. It’s more the way you would shoot a miniseries. So we’ll be shooting across all [AVATAR scripts] simultaneously. So Monday I might be doing a scene from Movie Four, and Tuesday I’m doing a scene from Movie One. … We’re working across, essentially, eight hours of story. It’s going to be a big challenge to keep it all fixed in our minds, exactly where we are, across that story arc at any given point. It’s going to be probably the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I’m sure the actors will be challenged by that as well. It’s like, ‘No, no, no, no, this person hasn’t died yet, so you’re still in this phase of your life.’ It’s a saga. It’s like doing all three GODFATHER films at the same time.”

Sounds like it'll be shit with that approach.

That's going to be a cluster fluck in the editing room. Can you imagine sorting through all those dailies and trying to piece these movies together?

Honestly, I didn't need the first Avatar film, much less four sequels. To be honest, while a visually stunning film, the characters were not at all compelling. Still, if people keep going out to see shit like the Transformers movies, I suppose there's money to be made.

I'm not a big Avatar fan, but it's not even in the same dimension as Transformers.
It's coherent.

Yeah, but Jackson shot those films back to back. Meaning he only focused on 1 movie and then moved on to next one.
This is shooting simultaneously. Meaning Cameron will be shooting random scenes from all 4 films together and then trying to piece everything together later on in post and editing.

Peter Jackson began shooting all three of his Lord Of The Rings (LOTR) movies at once in 1999, and he’s got a shelf groaning under the weight of a billion Oscars to support his opinion that he did a good job. LOTR was a risk – not the surefire bets that sequels to explosively successful originals are – but it is essentially one long story, and having the actors and crew take a two-year break between instalments wouldn’t have worked.

Fuck. I wish he'd do something else beyond Avatar. So many fucking years of losing Cameron. The last great Cameron film was True Lies. Also the last great Arnold film too.

I think that's a pretty ignorant reaction, and that's not coming from some Cameron-obsessed super nerd. You might experience a similar reaction the first time you ever hear movies aren't filmed in sequence. There are obvious logistical advantages of filming multiple movies this way and they've been employed in television and other simultaneous film productions over the years. If you were an actor appearing in, say, films 2 and 5 why wouldn't you film all your scenes together? Why would anyone expect an actor to wait around for films 3 and 4 to be completed when they're available for all their scenes in the first place? Why wouldn't you try to knock out all the scenes using a certain set or location (assuming it's not all CGI) at once?
I get it though. Cameron is weird and stupid and crazy, am I right?

James Cameron wants to raise the bar for filmmaking with his upcoming saga of Avatar sequel films, and hopes to release them with glasses-free 3D and higher frame rates.

glasses free 3D and higher frame rates? Jesus. The former would be expensive as shit. Like... super fucking expensive. It couldn't work on regular screen. You'd need a digital screen... and... fuck.. that just.. that's super fucking expensive to want on national level. Nevermind international.

So let me guess, Cameron is going to spend the next 20 years trying to create this technology. I'm going to assume that the next couple of Avatar films will be pushed bck to 2035.
