Jennifer Lawrence was originally cast in that role.

She left to do HUNGER GAMES.

The one that always bugged me was Martin Short in Captain Ron. The part was clearly written for Steve Martin and/or a Steve Martin type and as much as a I like Martin Short, it just doesn't work. Also, I'm one of those people who has an opinion on Captain Ron, I'm not proud of it.

And then everybody on this thread will bitch about her being miscast.

(Truth to tell, Scarlett Johansson would be a better choice.)

Ridley Scott's Legend would be a lot better without Tom Cruise in it.

She's OK looking, but not the model-bombshell MJ should be.

Though not theatrical Lindsay Lohan in Liz and Dick. Totally unconvincing. Not necessarily because LL is a bad actress (though she was pretty bad), but partly because her voice and looks remind me of LL instead of Liz.

I would have to sit down with a think tank and speculate very, very hard to come up with a worse title for anything than Liz and Dick. It just sounds very bad, IMO.

Those are all much better and much more effective titles than LIZ AND DICK.

All of those sound like porn titles as-is except for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Its name as a porn title would've been called Titty Titty Bang Bang.

I always thought Three Amigos might have been a lot funnier if John Candy had been cast instead of Chevy Chase.

Re: Cases of Movie Miscasting

You have to remember that for big-budget Hollywood fare, some roles are cast merely for the actors' drawing power of their name above the marquee. Russell Crowe is one actor at this point willing to take just about any role offered him and studios continue handing him roles because he has a sizable following, but he's turning in the same mediocre performance movie after movie.

Of course! That was Joliom's joke in response to LIZ AND DICK and I completely missed it! (And so did Hanshotfirst.) Now that I see it, it's funny! Double
