I thought Travolta and Cage were kind of miscast in this movie and would have been better off if they had switched roles.

^^

Nicolas Cage was far more interesting as Castor Troy.

uh, i thought that was the point.

Allow me to rephrase, since I haven't seen the movie in probably 8-9 years and only saw it once. I never bought Hawke as a cop, as someone who could handle himself with a gun, or a badge, or in any kind of crisis situation whatsoever. I remember the movie kind of positioning him as the "break the rules to get the job done" kind of scrappy character that his skinny pissboy frame and lack of discernable screen presence could possibly project. I had a lot of problems with that overrated POS movie but Hawke's casting/performance was probably the biggest complaint I had.

If I read it wrong, no biggie, but I still thought he was terrible in it.

Katie Holmes in Batman Begins. Completely unbelievable as a DA and as Bruce Wayne's love interest.

She was perfect in the role of a stupid, conceited, vapid, selfish slut who knows how to 'work it' for her own benefit in any situation, and isn't near the 'actress' she thinks she is while doing it, but gets results anyway.

I have to suspect her career in film mirrors this closely.

In one of the features on the dvd, Ed Harris said they specifically picked Renee for that role because they wanted the character to come off as sweet and innocent even though she was clearly something else. The character wasn't so much "bad" as she was willing to do anything to survive.

Agreed, and I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal was even worse.

Yup beat me to it.

I was going to say Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight. Completely unbelievable as a DA and as Bruce Wayne's AND Harvey Dent's love interest.

A lot more convincing than Katie Holmes. I thought she did much better than Holmes as the same character.

I agree.

I mean, yeah, it was hard to believe that Bruce Wayne would be so sprung over Maggie but she was very convincing as the DA. She atleast looks like a grown up whereas Katie Holmes still looks like she walked off the set of Dawson's Creek.

hell, imagine it being worse with Sean Penn in the role. He was thought of for the role because the producer liked him in Dead Man Walking

They should have cast Tori Spelling.

I would say that Stuart Townsend is the most annoying actor in every single movie he's in.

Any 20 something playing a homicide detective or more than one attractive women/girl playing a cop. The only female cops I've seen are "Bull Dykes".

I used to work for a TV station and interacted with the police alot. There were a few cute female officers. They were also complete sluts but there you go.

Eh, I've seen (and been ticketed by) some pretty nice looking ladies in blue so I'm not sure about this one.
