I dunno, I thought the script for Death Proof did a good job setting everything up, developing the two sets of girls (one of followers, one of leaders) and making its old school point valid (only the strong survive).

I liked Death Proof a good bit, but I can see why people didn't.

I know some people feel the opposite, but my problem with Death Proof was the second half. I pretty much loved the first half. Tolerable chick speak, and a kick-ass villain. Second half had horrible acting/dialogue from the girls and a total pansying of what could have been one of the most memorable characters in villain history. I get what QT was trying to do, but hated how it came out. I got almost physically ill each time I watched it.

Same, whenever I watch this, its generally just the first half. Sometimes I'll fast forward to the end chase as well, but there's about 35 minutes of annoying filler that could have really been cut out.

That chase scene was epic. I love that Tarantino is about old school filmmaking.

Re: Favorite Quentin Tarantino Film?

1. Inglourious Basterds
2. Resevoir Dogs
3. Jackie Brown
4. Pulp Fiction
5. Kill Bill 1&2
6 Death Proof

Of the films he's written, True Romance would rank high among the films he's written AND directed. But no others would receive such a ranking.

I agree 100%; that is by FAR his best film. And if that's indicative of what you value in Tarantino's work, there's no need to waste any time on the self-deluded, misguided, and muddleheaded Basterds.

Re: Favorite Quentin Tarantino Film?

Interesting timing for me in regards to this thread bump, in that I just finished re-watching Jackie Brown less than an hour ago. I always thought it was one of Tarantino's best, now I think it's unquestionably his
best work. What a fantastic film.

I agree with this.
It's funny that my favorite film of his happens to be the only one that was adapted from another source.

Can't believe all the hate for Death Proof. Most likely my favorite QT movie. But, all of them are A+ movies.

Re: Favorite Quentin Tarantino Film?

It's hard to choose a favorite since I really do love them all. Pulp Fiction is the funnest movie he's made I have to say and overall probably my favorite. I can watch it anytime and not get sick of it. Jackie Brown is damn good too though and I agree is probably his best written film all around. Death Proof might be his weakest but even that I enjoyed
