The MST3K episodes with just some good jokes can be that way, but the MST3K episodes with great jokes can elevate even the worst movies so much that they are anything but boring (ex: Manos, the Hands of Fate).

I don't know how you can name a movie "Hands: the Hands of Fate".

I didn't click through the list but any Worst Movies Ever list needs to have Freddy Got Fingered in the top 10 or it loses all credibility with me.

I've seen 17 of these movies. A staggering 13 of them were in theaters. I walked out of none of them.

Spidey 3 is especially frustrating to see on this list. I know I'm in the minority for taking a liking to it, but it surely doesn't deserve a place on there.
And plenty of these movies are schlock, and quite enjoyable schlock. Gruff.

Watching HG is sort of like taking a long trip...the first time you make the journey, it seems to take forever, but subsequent visits go by much faster.
See, I hated the Harvard sequence when I saw it, but as I saw the roller-rink scene, I realized how brilliant the juxtaposition was, even if it was accidentally so. I believe it actually divides the audience along the lines of their tastes as some would view the prim and proper techniques of the Harvard sequence as elegant in nature while the fiddle/jug-band would be too hillbilly and vice-versa.

Although Heaven's Gate isn't tightly focus on their characters, you do get a sense of how life would be like before the turn of the 20th century. A completely enveloping film experience is what Heaven's Gate achieves.

I think Heaven's Gate might be better appreciated now that people can watch it at their leisure, instead of having to sit through a viewing at the movie theater without pauses, etc.

Re: The 50 Worst Movies Ever

So 90% of the "all-time" worst movies ever have been made within the last 5-10 years... horrible list.. they list about half the "parodies" too.. and not even the worst one, that one is "date movie".. Scary movie was the best of the scary movie series and by that logic.. all 4 should have made their list..

I do agree that a few do belong there.. but i'd say maybe 10 of their list of 50.

I agree. I didn't think it was THAT bad even though it paled in comparison to the others.

Also I love Empire, but that list is a good mix of films that are actually bad and films voted bad because they weren't as good as other films in the franchise/Director's Work.

Re: The 50 Worst Movies Ever

I disagree, I thought Spidey 3 was a clusterfuck with scenes that had no flow or real reason to be in the film, it's editing or lackthereof was it's major flaw - Raimi was having delusions of grandeur like, say... uh, Michael Bay. There were a couple of good set pieces, but ultimately it lacked any sort of cohesion and felt like it had way too many cooks in the kitchen.

well, I failed there, I managed to live from a complete theatrical viewing at the AFI Silver - and like other's have pointed out, not it's not one of the 'worst' films ever. That reward would go to a 2005 Casper Van Dien film called "Hollywood Flies" - a film that had soooo many flaws and was just painful to watch, I would rather ingest a coffee cup filled with broken glass than rewatch this extremely bad movie.

Ummm...shouldn't pretty much every Casper Van Dien film be on that list?

King Kong (1976)

Raise the Titanic (1980)

These flims maybe bad but the music is incredible by mastreo John Barry.
Any fan of music scores should have these hidden-gems in there collection I know I do.

Re: The 50 Worst Movies Ever

The flaws with this list have already been covered, but I feel the need to go on record as saying I'd far rather re-watch Batman & Robin than Epic Movie. I actually laughed at parts of Batman & Robin (though I suspect they aren't parts that were intended to evoke laughter).

Re: The 50 Worst Movies Ever

Heaven's Gate is what happens when you give a cokehead egomaniac endless money to make a movie. It's a fucking mess. Cimino never recovered.

But, yeah, truly awful films go unseen and Heaven's Gate has some redeeming aspects.

Lists are just intellectually lazy ways to fill space.

Re: The 50 Worst Movies Ever

It's NOT a "worst" movie list, it's a "most disastrous" movie list - in other words, movies with a lot of money/talent/expectations attached that turned out to be huge disappointments/failures.

Exactly. Don't you guys remember how high the expectations for "Sex Lives of the Potato Men" were?

Click the link, it's claiming to be both:

"The 50 Worst Movies Ever
The most disastrous films ever made - as voted by you!
We asked, and you voted in your thousands. And now, for your delectation, we have the results of the worst movies ever made poll. From the disappointing to the bad to the downright offensive, here is a pile of sick filth that should be banned if the BBFC ever start assessing narrative coherence and filmmaking skill. Ladies and gentlemen, your worst movies ever..."

Blame the web; for diminishing attention spans, and blasting the door of 'writing takes talent' right off its hinges.

No way I'm clicking through 50 pages, though. Was Cutthroat Island on there?

That's the problem with that list.
