Super-Bowl Movie Ads 2010
I don't know which ones they will air, but I know last year had a few impressive ones.
The only year I remember them not having any significant ads was (ironically) when the Colts played in Miami in 2007. All I remember seeing was one for "Hannibal Rising," which sucked about as bad as the movie.
Past ads that seemed to make a difference were:
Hunt for Red October -I think this was the one that prompted more people to air teasers during the Super Bowl
The Mummy-great teaser with the big dust head forming.
Gladiator-done with Kid Rock's "Bawitaba" playing. Not the best ad IMO, but it was appropriate for the audience.
Van Helsing-good teaser that got a good opening weekend, but again, lackluster end product.

I'm really looking forward to this. My son and I loved the series. I'm anxious to see how well it adapts to live action and how the story is adjusted to fit a movie.

I remember the Independence Day one with "It's the End of the World as We Know It" being really effective, but the one that OWNS this topic is The Matrix. Hadn't seen anything about it or like it before, hence I had a total "holy shit" reaction.

Never knew Red October was the one that started the trend. Was trying to find it on YouTube but couldn't. Guess it was just a really well put together spot I guess? I found this article about it though.

I remember seeing The Matrix ad. I knew of the movie, but Keanu Reeve's involvement turned me off. However, the SuperBowl ad with the Enigma music got me interested. I felt like I had just seen a spot for a live-action anime.

in 1997 Sony had a Summer Movie half time ad, Featured spots for MIB, The 5th Element & Air Force One.
Pretty sure Godzilla was heavily promoted in 1998.

It's not like a Robin Hood comes out every three yrs... its been 19 since the last one.
Prince of Persia still hasn't convinced me... that shot of Jake yelling had me lol.

The Fifth Element's Superbowl Teaser had me thinking about that movie every day, for a few months straight. I recall the buildup being quite painful. Luckily, me and my Dad were convinced to go opening weekend. Then the big problem was waiting for the VHS.
There was really a Gladiator Bawitaba trailer? Haha. That's awesome.

Yep, pretty ho hum year for ads. Oddly enough, as much as they make a big deal out of airing these, the only one I actually remember is the Super Bowl spot for Hulk where Eric Bana was looking in the bathroom mirror as he was transforming. I honestly don't remember any of the others mentioned in this thread.
That Last Airbender spot looked decent if uneventful but the Prince of Persia spot was so bad it took my anticipation for the film down a few notches. I must have been getting more dip when the Robin Hood spot aired, I missed it.
