2009 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)

On in about 40 minutes EST on NBC.

Hosted by Ricky Gervais.

Should be fun as always.

Hopefully, unpredictable as well.

Discussion for movie winners, losers, speeches, etc...

it would be funny if Nine took all the acting noms (as the acadamy loves Cruz, Marion has won once, and of course, DDL)

Re: 2009 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)

i know it is morbid, but i always like to predict who will get the biggest applause in the "In Memoriam" segment...

this year i think Michael Jackson will take it, but more deserving in this arena anyway, should be Natasha Richardson or Patrick Swayze.

who do you think will get the biggest applause?

Good to see UP win for animated although I wouldn't have minded the Princess & The Frog.

Re: 2009 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)

I was torn between Avatar and The Hurt Locker. Avatar is more important to filmmaking but Hurt Locker is more important a film in general and hasn't gotten the viability it deserves. I hope it has better luck at the Oscars.

Avatar and Cameron winning is exactly why I stopped watching these award shows? Are you sh*tting me? Far more deserving films and directors.

Avatar is more important to filmmaking
Sure it is.

Re: 2009 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)

This years Golden Globes was a Hurt Locker.

I think the only choice I liked -- that is, The White Ribbon for foreign film -- I wouldn't necessarily say I agreed with. But they didn't nominate Summer Hours. Robert Downey Jr shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Stuhlbarg or Matt Damon for comedy actor, let alone win.

Looks like you're going to have to table this question until the Oscars.

Re: 2009 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)

I don't normally watch these goofy shows but I love how when Reitman won - he immediately pointed out to Quentin cause he knew he should have won.

You have got be shitting me...Avatar won best picture over Inglourious Basterds? It's all subjective right and I honestly don't want piss people off - I just had to laugh when that fucking movie won.

Gervais was hysterical as well.....That Mel Gibson cut was classic.
