Here's a pretty interesting article arguing why Die Hard IS a Christmas movie (using literary references like "Christ Figure").

Re: Your top five Christmas Movies list?
How could I forget this wonderful animated film about a trio of homeless people finding an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve and trying to return it to its mother? Well, because, it's relatively new and not really part of a Christmas tradition yet. The others I just automatically associate with the season, whereas I don't normally associate anime with Christmas yet.
In any event, TOKYO GODFATHERS is highly recommended.

Re: Your top five Christmas Movies list?
So I'm going to go with straight up Christmas films (so as much as I love Die Hard since it is one of my favorite movies ever I don't count it as a Xmas film)
In no order, and these are the only 5 I make sure I watch every year no matter what
Scrooged
Bad Santa
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Home Alone
Jingle All the Way (yea I know, it's a guilty pleasure of mine)

Re: Your top five Christmas Movies list?
Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie. A Christmas movie, to me, has to explicitly deal with the holiday as a plot element. You could substitute Die Hard's Christmas setting with, say, Rosh Hashana and it wouldn't change the plot one whit (terrorists take over Nakawhatever Plaza to steal bearer bonds). "Now I have a machine gun. Shana Tova Tikotavu and Tikotanu and Gamar Tov."
My list:
1. A Christmas Story
2. A Christmas Carol (the British 1933 version)
3. Scrooged
4. White Christmas
5. Miracle on 34th Street (original)
I've NEVER seen It's A Wonderful Life. I plan on rectumizing that this year.
