Symbolism in 'Cinema Paradiso'?

Symbolism in 'Cinema Paradiso'?
I think the movie theatre itself, the lion's mouth, kissing scenes of all movies, and burned films or photos are important.. I think they mean somthing special as a symbol but its hard for me to tell exactly what they mean. What do you think?

Not all creators are out symbolism and whatnot. They're often out to convey feelings. It's all in the eyes of the viewer.
