I mean, when you count, you don't start with zero.

The year 1 BC was followed by 1 AD, there was no 0 AD.

The '90s are 1990-1999, the 2000s or " '00s" are 2000-2009, and 2010 and later would be the "2010s" or " '10s"

Sorry, but I wasn't stating my opinion, just the fact of what a decade actually is. The numeral integer is immaterial. A decade starts with 1 and ends with 10. By your "math" the first decade would only be 9 years - since a decade, by definition is 10 years, the last year of the first decade is 10AD, and then the second decade starts with 11AD and so on.

I think "incongruous" fits more than "distracting" regarding the dogs in Up. I don't recall having that feeling about any part of A.I. I just wasn't sure what I was supposed to care about, maybe was the thing. Like I said, I haven't seen it since its theatrical run and I've done a lot of evolving as a person and as a film viewer since then. I'll be sure to post my current observations when I do sit down with it, though.

I sincerely hope it was a joke, because I responded to it in that context with my Die Another Day suggestion.

I tried arguing this in one of the other "Best of the Decade" threads several days ago. If nothing else, it's comforting to know someone else gets it, even as the rest of the world seems hellbent on running their decades from 0-9 instead of 1-10.
