Favorite/Least Favorite Hitchcock

Favorite:
North by Northwest
Rear Window
Rope
Dial M for Murder
Vertigo
Spellbound
Notorious
Frenzy
The Man Who Knew Too Much (Original)

Least Favorite:
Family Plot
Topaz
Marnie
Torn Curtain
The Birds
Rebecca
The Paradine Case

I'm sort of in the middle with Psycho, 39 Steps, Lady Vanishes, Strangers on a Train, Jamaica Inn, and The Trouble with Harry.

I've never seen The Man Who Knew Too Much (Remake), Shadow of a Doubt, Saboteur, Suspicion, Foreign Correspondent, or any of his silent work (I want to see these, but i'm not sure of the quality of the PD discs since these have never been officially released...)

Favorite is probably Notorious, but North by Northwest and Rear Window are up there.

Least favorite I guess Paradine Case, or maybe Topaz.

I'm probably one of the few in the world that like Family Plot (maybe because it's the only one I actually saw at the theater when it first came out).

Favorite is The Birds. One of the scariest movies I have ever seen.

Least favorite is probably Rear Window. I don't consider it a bad movie, just my least favorite.

Honk!

Least Favorite: The Man Who Knew Too Much (remake) -- what a horrible movie, ugh. The only bad film I've seen from Hitchcock thus far.

Favorite: Alfred. Made good movies all his life.

Least Favorite: Lambert. His chairs were overrated.

You guys pick your least favorite but I'm sure you haven't seen his early work. Skin Game, The Farmers Wife, Rich and Strange suck on ice and are only of interest due to who the director became.

Rich and Strange is actually pretty fascinating in a weird way. Especially the sinking ship bits.

My favorite is probably Foreign Correspondent.

I'd also like to buck the trend and say I really liked Topaz when I saw it on DVD. I gather the DVD edition of the film is a lot better than previous video editions, so maybe those who don't like it but haven't seen the DVD should give it a rent.

Another near-the-top favorite that hasn't been mentioned yet is Lifeboat.

Favorite is Vertigo. Least favorite is Family Plot. Actually just saw Marnie for the first time over the weekend and I'm surprised it's viewed so negatively - I thought it was a perfect summation of Hitchcock's themes up until then.

I've only seen his most acclaimed works (Vertigo, North by Northwest, The Birds, Psycho, Rear Window), but from those I'd say. . .

Favorite: Vertigo

Least favorite: Rear Window

Favorite: Waaay too many to mention.

Least favorite: a lot of his early work (such as the ones Pants mentioned). Of his later work, only Topaz doesn't cut it for me.

How can you people pick Marnie?

Sean Connery, Tippi, it was actually very entertaining.

I haven't seen any of the early films or the last few so out of what I've seen:

Favorite(s): Vertigo, Marnie, Rear Window, N by NW

Least: Topaz (although I didn't give it much of a chance) and Frenzy

I really miss Sundy Night Hitchcock on AMC. It really got im into Hitchcock. Saw The Birds on there and then went out the next day and started buy the movies.
