Had Thanksgiving dinner about 1PM. Going to the theater to watch Christmas Carol in a bit. I don't really want to, but my wife does. I'm like "How can they make ANOTHER Christmas Carol at this point. She isn't familiar with the story in any format which is why we are going. And I completely refuse to go see a Christmas film BEFORE Thanksgiving.

I'm probably going to rent "Twilight" so I can see "New Moon" this weekend. I saw "2012" Wednesday to kickoff the holiday.

The parade on NBC - the daughter of a friend of ours, and our son's babysitter, performed in it, which was very cool - then the dog show for a bit, then a couple of games of Disney Scene It, then playing Borderlands.

I also don't understand how someone can be totally unfamiliar with A Christmas Carol. From the old black and white versions, to George C Scott, to the Simpsons parody, to Mr Magoo, heck, even to Scrooged, A Christmas Carol is sort of like "Rosebud" or "Snakes, why did it have to be snakes", part of our shared cultural heritage that most Americans over a certain age should have basically absorbed even if they haven't experienced it directly.

That said, I'm sure there's lots of shared cultural consciousness things that I'm totally oblivious too-anything having to do with sports, for instance.

Since I'm with the family I might have to catch something like The Blind Side or A Christmas Carol. We would all love to see Fantastic Mr. Fox but the fact that we will be going during the day almost guarantees the presence of a bunch of jittery kids, so that has to wait. :(

PBS was supposed to air Sting's Winter's Night concert on Great Performances tonight, but none of the LA affiliates are carrying it... I guess I'll watch Beyonce & Paul McCartney on ABC instead...

When I was a kid, Thanksgiving meant King Kong, Son of Kong, and Mighty Joe Young. Then on Friday, GODZILLA. :)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and Electra Glide in Blue.

Thats one awesome lineup. As a Kid I would of loved that, I rememeber being so excited seeing a monster movie, wither it be godzilla or some 50's dinosaur film. But that line up still sounds awesome to me today.

For us we watched with the Family

Monsters Inc (Bluray)
Up! (Bluray)

When kids went to play the Xbox 360. A few watched Role Models.

 My wife is Chinese and has lived in the US about a year now. And I agree with the cultural heritage thing. I was actually explaining that she'll get all sorts of references now. She really loved the film. I found it a bore. That first ghost Christmas Ghost was really odd looking. I thought the first one was usually a hot girl.
