Biker Films
What are some of your favorite biker movies?
Here's my top 5 Wild Angels Hell's Angels on Wheels Northville Cemetery Massacre Stone Psychomania I've also seen: the Born Losers, Hell's Angels '69, Rebel Rousers, The Losers, Glory Stompers, Run Angel Run, Angels Hard as They Come, Cycle Savages, Angel Unchained, Werewolves on Wheels, CC and Co, Satan's Sadists, She Devils on Wheels, Hell's Bloody Devils, Mini Skirt Mob, Chrome and Hot Leather, The Wild One, and Easy Rider which of course isn't along the lines as these others. I wish a few of them weren't so rare like: Savage Seven, Devil's Angels, and possibly others. Am I missing some that are worth seeing? I'm more into the 60s-70s ones. |

Maybe not exactly the type of biker movie you mean but Knightriders (1981) is one of my top 5 movies of all time.

The only ones I got are the Billy Jack flicks. They've gotten a bit ... much ... over the years. But it's early independent film spirit. And that's probably what holds up best. |

Re: Biker Films
I was happy to see THE WILD ANGELS at the top of the original poster's list. THE WILD ANGELS (1966), directed by Roger Corman (who just got an honorary Oscar) and starring Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra and Bruce Dern, is still the best biker film ever and still quite relevant. (Whereas EASY RIDER was dated within a year of its release. I loved it in high school and we laughed it off the screen in college.)
I also like THE LOSERS (bikers fighting in IndoChina) and RUN, ANGEL, RUN, although I only saw them on TV (a b&w set) decades ago. William Smith starred in both--one of the great underused stars in movie history. Some of you may know him as Conan's father in CONAN THE BARBARIAN. I would have preferred Smith in the role of Conan himself. If you read the books by Robert E. Howard, his descriptions of Conan more closely match Smith than Schwarzenegger. |

Re: Biker Films
I have a few that I dig:
Pink Angels-Gay biker movie form 71 I think. I love it and it has a very shocking ending. Windsplitter-This is a slow burn that cashed in on Easy Rider fame, but the director J.D. Fiegelson is a class act and it has an ending that is also a shock. Hell Ride- I know it is not liked by many, but I really dig it. It has bikes, beer, and babes!!! Come on what is there not to like?!?! |

I have always had a soft spot for Stone Cold with Brian Bosworth... it had a decent budget and it kicks some pretty good ass!

Mostly liked the ending. Angels/Come is unique in that it's got a couple of F-bombs (You NEVER hear bad language in old school-biker films for some reason) I also feel that James Englehart may be the most unsung cult-movie hero of all time. Pink Angels turned out to be the usual crud that I expect from Crown International. Interesting concept, but once the filming begins, nobody seems to know what they're doing. |
