What is the Title of this tropical island movie?
I didn't see the whole movie, but from what I remember a blonde young woman was visiting a tropical island with an older man (who I think was her father). She falls in love with one of the native young men of the island, even though he will have an arranged marriage to another native island woman. The woman he is betrothed to is occasionally forced by another young man to have sex with her. Right before they get married, the native woman is undressed in front of the whole village and tested by an elder for her virginity. When it is discovered she is not a virgin she is so upset that she runs away and committs suicide by throwing herself in the ocean.
That's as far as I got in the movie and I can't remember the title at all. Does anyone know what movie this is?

Sounds a bit like Harvey, except in that movie instead of a native woman it's an invisible rabbit.

Definitely not My Father the Hero. The island/beach is more tribal/primitive and it's not a comedy, more of a drama/romance. Good try though.
I've tried several times to find the title on IMDB using their advanced search function but to no avail. I was hoping by chance a DVDtalk member might have come across the film.
